This is a challenge I've decided to take on and I'm taking it seriously. I thought I'd do the 1980s but have decided that will be too hard, so I've compromised for the 1990s
For the next 10 years, I will live my life as if it was still the 1990s.
Things I will allow:
The internet. The internet existed in the 90s. It was in its elementary stage, but it was there. So I'm allowing myself internet on a computer. Computers also existed.
Any food or beverages which existed in the 90s
Any tv show or movie from the 1990s. I will still watch them on my normal tv. LCD screens existed in the 90s. No HD but I'm bending the rules on that one. TVs existed, Im leaving it at that.
Clothes from the 90s. I will wear only clothes from the 90s. It will be hard to find underwear that old, so I'll be free balling it most of the time.
Books from the 90s
Video games from the 90s.
I will only shop at stores which existed in the 90s
I will only drive cars which existed in the 90s. I've already bought a 1998 Audi S6 Quattro which is in very good condition.
What I will not allow:
Smart phones. Those didn't exist in the 90s. I'll still have a cell phone but it will be a refurbished Nokia 3210.
No uber or ride sharing. Only traditional taxis.
No sex with anyone born after December 31 1999.
No music released after December 31 1999.
No use of things like self serve checkouts or boarding pass machines.
No social media.
Wish me luck. Since g@g didn't exist in the 90s, I will also refrain from that. I'll check back in 10 years with a full rundown of the experience. Signing off.
