Are bad habits a sign of low intelligence?

if a lab rat has the habit of taking the cube of cheese, just across the (non lethal, yet painful) MOUSE TRAP

unlike, the other lab rat who goes through the maze or across the water, to get to its cube of cheese,

Wouldn't that mean the second rat is adapting and actively processing its surroundings?

Meanwhile, the first rat is “forming a habit,” that isn’t beneficial to the rat?

Einstein kind of covers on this, when he mentions his infamous quote:

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Einstein goes the extra mile, to include for people, the variable of expectation.. unlike my scenario (s) with the rats and witnessing just their behavior.

So is it safe to say/assume

Poor habits (if not insanity), is a sign of low intelligence?

is not insanity also an extreme and final result, of the lack (ing) of comprehension?

If yes, and you potentially have one, as I have my own, let us not be insulted! Let us change all our poor habits and be able recognize when something is not working for/ benefiting us.

I think a lack of change in habit is not dependent on the intelligence of the person altogether. More-ever, it is dependent on the discipline of the person. How much is the person willing to change the habit. Or find alternative ways to tackle the same problem.

That is not lack of intelligence. It is the lack of discipline and motivation. Motivation more.

Also, I believe being insane, is not the same as being a dumb person. Or in other words, not being an intelligent person. Insanity is something that is seen in everyone from every spectrum of intelligence. I have seen a fair share of such people.😅👍

No. Also, Einstein never actually said that at all. It was first referenced by a recovering alcoholic anonymous member describing their battle with addiction.

Regardless, there is no consensus on what to measure for intelligence and IQ is largely debunked, with EQ being a better measure.

But it is still not a direct or accurate measure, as many have been discovered as having "IQ" equal or greater than Hawking and Einstein, but not achieving half as much as either, with it.

I'll skip on whether Einstein actually did say that but will be pedantic enough to point out that repeating the same experiment and getting different results each time is exactly what quantum mechanics is about.

One thing we do know about people and ourselves is that we have foibles. I do know that the chances of me meeting a hot blonde, who decides I am exactly what she needs at my local bar, is rather remote.

Hope is an essential ingredient in life. Otherwise we are just looking at the reality of getting old and dying.

So the bad habits might just be the expression of hope... anyway got to get to the bar just in case...

Judging habits as "good" or "poor" is subjective and not a sign of intelligence. However, if you substitute "effective" and "non-effective" those things might be to some extent.

basically, if the habit is purposeful or constructive/ beneficial, it would seem smart- like someone making it a habit to create and use contraptions, than something else, but I guess we cannot judge it, if we do not perform the same duties as that other observed person, and don’t know.. and possibly don’t share the same objective as them.
