Of you had a boat/ship what would you name it?

I had an outboard motor from when I was in high school. The boat sunk in the 80s but I fixed up the motor and brought it with me everywhere I moved. I finally found a boat without a motor. I was going to name it "Blast From The Past".
haha Perfect.
I brought the motor up and put it on the boat I bought. It was an aluminum boat that was 16 feet. The motor was a 33 HP. The motor started but would only run on one cylinder. I could not figure out what was wrong. I had done a tune up on it. I brought it to the local marina and the guy said he would not work on it because it was so old (1967) but he knew a guy that would fix it. Si I go and see hime and I tell him I needed it for Labor Day. That gave him 4 months to fix it. Two weeks before Labor Day I go and see the guy. He bought all the parts but hadn't started it yet. I told him if he couldn't do it by labor day weekend to just forget it.
The day before the weekend I go to his shop and he was not there. Another guy was there and he told me that while he was working on my motor, a piece of the flywheel broke off and hit him in the eye and he lost the eye. I was so freaked out I just left the motor there and later I sold the boat.
😱😱😱
That is truly beyond words. Poor you just as much as this man. Wow. Heavy stuff. I’m sorry.
Awesome!
The name is awesome! The story is sad!
The names of my boats were:
- C. U. Later
- Double Trouble (a catamaran)
- Kluntje ( Northern German for: rock candy )
If there's a next one, I think of either ''What!'' or ''Circus''
Really like those.
Thank you
-Ship Happens
-Anchor Management
-i sea the light
-Johnny Depth
-The unsinkable
-The Flying Dutchman or Fleur-de-Lys
You have a fleet. 😁
If it were a large galleon, such as in your picture, I would call it "the whiskey barrel."
Very fitting.

I just made that up. I had a boat and kept its old name because I couldn't come up with a name I liked.
Oh nice. What kind of boat dis you have?
A small sailboat.
Oh lovely. 😎
*did
Yes, but we never even used it! I bought it because my husband and I both love to sail, but it didn't get used. I finally gave it away. 😢
Oh, I remember you saying this part before. That is such a shame!
I always liked the name Julie, and a boat is a she, so she would be called "Julie Westwind"
Mine is a he. 😁
I'm down to having two boats these days, named:
1) 'River Boat'
2) 'Lake Boat'
Basic and still great.
Thanks.
I've replied a few times to this same type of question on G@G over the past couple of years.
Upon seeing the same reply that I've posted here, the question askers have good-naturedly insisted that I give them some different names.
It ain't happenin'.
If I ever get a yacht (not likely), I'll come up with some sort of clever/cheesy name, I guess.
Thanks for being the first to accept my boat descriptors as they are.
You are welcome. I’m not a fan of changing others, I don’t like that treatment myself. - Unless in good humor between friends.
Mine: 'Deelight'
His: 'Synchronicity'
I love them with special meaning.
Alexandra for a ship or powerboat. Flying Cloud for a sailboat.
Both. Nice. 😎
Thank you! I'm particularly enamoured with Flying Cloud. Fun fact of the day: In 1854 the clipper ship Flying Cloud set speed sailing record for fastest sailing time between New York and San Francisco around Cape Horn. She did it in 89 days 8 hours -- unheard of back then. That record stood until 1989 and even then it was a full-fledged cargo sailing vessel. The awesome part of the record passage: the navigator on Flying Cloud was a woman, Eleanor Creesy -- everyone in New York and Boston had said not only was she incapable of serving as a navigator, but also that she'd get the ship lost or sunk.
I bet her family was so proud her her. 😎 Thanks for sharing all of that. Sailing is one of those things I’ve always wanted more of.
Oh yes. Bookworm here. I’ve almost two thousand books read in my goodreads profile history. 😬 I’ll be sure to add this on! 😎 Sounds a good rainy-day read.
I would have great ship names. i would name my ship "long, hard and full of seamen"
@SnowedIn WIth a name like that, ruling the 7 seas can't be hard to swim in
@SnowedIn Just this once
It could be "Black Pearl", and be a software for downloading pirate movies.
There ya go.
After you. After being asked what I named the boat, I can say that I named it after you.
Very funny.
@dustybiker I forgot to give credit to my dad...
I remember him saying that on a fishing trip. He had always talked about wanting a boat and would come with the worst names. Wish I could remember more of them... lmao
