There is for some people for sure. I do not know why though. This is just a question and answer site. There really shouldn’t be a sort of jealousy. Any sort of status, whether it be influencer, moderator or editor, it really does not mean a whole lot on this site.

Neither does number of followers. Take @SueShe for example. She was smart to clear her followers and does so on a regular basis. The ones she does have (other than me) are ones she cannot get rid of. If you look at mine, I have loads of what I call zombie accounts.

95%+ of the “users” that follow me do not post a single thing. No questions, no opinions. Nothing. So, those who get jealous over something like followers are misguided. I think Sue estimated it would take me better part of a year to clear mine. I think she is right, so I just let it be.

The fact is that you will see jealousy anywhere…. online or in real life. It just isn’t worth the time to be jealous or envy either way.

Those zombie accounts are indeed an issue and I find it futile that GaG tries to assign as many accounts to newbies as possible, I find it defeats the purpose because those real newcomers have no idea at first what that assignment is all about.

I had more than 20K followers and it took me days to get rid of them because in the earlier days of GaG it was not as simple as it is now.

GaG finally got my point when they realized that despite me clearing those 150+ daily new accounts, my count was not growing as they expected. Now, I have my peace and don't have to clear those single digit new accounts more than once a week.

There is probably some kind of jealousy on GaG but it could be avoided. It all depends on the character of the persons that believe they lack attention and are jealous of the attention others get.

If you want attention, then you have to do what is necessary to avoid that kind of feeling. People can be jealous because they receive a lot of upvotes on their posts but if they tailored their posts in such a way that they get more upvotes, then there would be less jealousy. This is just one example of what kind of jealousy that could b found on this site.

Maybe? I don’t know, jealousy is universal, but giving a shit about likes and followers and anything that’s a metric of attention or popularity…. that seems very much like a younger person’s concern, if that’s what you’re alluding to in terms of jealousy.

The general character of the people on this site has really dropped the last 5 or 6 years, so it’s not even like these are respectable people who I care to impress. I wonder everyday why I still come here to associate with miscreants with horrendous worldviews, lmao. This place used to be fun, but now it’s so hard to even respect some of the people on here, and it just makes me more and more misanthropic.
