Yes, I've had one most of my life. The first one was with my parents before I was born, we go the second one when I was in elementary school. We got the 3rd one about 6 years ago because I was attending college near home. So I was living with my parents, and since I could take care of the new dog and dogs are very affectionate they decided to get another one and have me raise her. She's the first non-golden retriever we got. We were thinking of getting another golden, but we'd also seen golden doodles and liked the ones we saw. We finally decided on a 4-month-old Labradoodle. Not to brag, but she's really smart. She knows when she's usually walked and expects to be walked then every day. She will be sleeping and then, right at the time she's walked she'll get up and try to find me. She also learned that jumping into the pool allows her to get to her ball faster. She has to exit by the steps, but my other two dogs entered by the steps every time too. She has actually caught several squirrels and birds, which most dogs can't do. When she sees another dog she will "introduce" herself, but if I have her continue one, she will without trying to continue interacting with the other dog. She also likes to approach people. She knows that the default reaction of people to dogs is to pet them, and that's what she wants. So she'll approach almost anyone in hopes that they'll pet her. She's also very affectionate/needy. If she wants to be pet she'll walk over to you and place her head on your lap. If you pet her or get her excited she'll follow you around until she discovers that you're not going to play with her anymore.

I had a Maltese for 16 years and I liked him for the first 2-3 years but then I got tired of him and my mother ruined him by teaching him to lick you all the time which I thought was unsanitary and dirty. When I used to live in another city, I was his primary companion and I controlled his behaviour so he did not have those bad habits but once I left for school, my mom ruined him.

I do now. His owner died and he needed a home…. soooooo now I have a dog.

  A lot. If you pet her long enough she'll want to lick you. If you get at her eye level she'll lick your face. There have been times when she'll just come up and start licking me for no apparent reason. I've sometimes called her a tongue with fur.

  She'll lick my knee even if I'm wearing pants, so probably. I don't wear shorts for half of the year.
