Well, “killer whale” is obviously a colloquialism. They’re actually orcas, a part of the delphinidae family, like dolphins but not actually dolphins, i think. I think belugas are actually similar in classification.
Maybe because they hunt smaller species, dolphins don’t get the same rap as orcas. They are definitely similar in the ways that they hunt and kill though. Humans are just lucky we’re not on the delphinidae menu. They’re smart, clever and arguably cruel pack hunters. We might as well call them sea wolves. In fact, there’s far less footage of wolves torturing their prey than there is for dolphins and orcas. They may be only third behind otters and obviously humans for their cruel nature.

Yes, it's kind of funny seeing as they are a member of the dolphin family, yet they'd make mincemeat of their smaller cousins that actually carry the name "dolphin"
