I do. I admit it has been a while, but I could get us underway and safely out and back.

Can you hold a class? I feel this is something we need to learn now.

@dustybiker I'm game. Can we barter? I'd like a ride on the bike.
@bigpauly -- across the pond where you live or across the pond the Atlantic? If the former, I'm game. If the latter, that is WAY beyond my capabilities and the first part of being a good Sailor is knowing when to respect wind and wave. - +1 y
@snowedin That can be arranged. 😎

@snowedin Done 🤝

@SnowedIn I've really kinda guessed so, based on your profile pictures Captain!

@Curiosity2006 <3 ... all this said, I was a Navy Sailor -- my smallest ship was a 94,000 ton aircraft carrier and I was the admin guy. But I sailed blue Js for my childhood and some larger boats as an adult.

Woah... well that's just amazing! Looks like you were born to be on the helm!

I'm no expect but I understand the basics. I use to go sailing as a kid from time to time. One of my brothers also owned a sailboat for a while but sold it a few years back. If you want to quiz me on all the vocabulary, no bueno... If you want rudimentary layman operation I could manage.

I barely remember how I operated my stick shift truck... so no and we're going to crash in the sea.

I’ve watched movies. I feel fairly confident. - +1 y
@SnowedIn Maybe I should watch a few more movies. I’m glad we have this class thing going now.

@dustybiker ... start with Master and Commander. Then Captains Courageous for good measure. Take a break by watching Perfect Storm and then get your encouragement back by watching Finest Hour (both of those, by the way, true stories). When that's done we can gather for a beverage and a planning session.

@SnowedIn I would have loved to take a schooling ship. What a lifetime experience.

Not too late my friend. Plenty of sailing experience out there.
Alternatively, you can visit the Maritime Museum in San Diego which has the HMS Surprise replica in which you can't sail, but you can climb in the rigging. Or Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut. And the USS Constitution allows visitors. - +1 y
@SnowedIn That truly sounds like a blast. 😎

Is that solar powered? Just make sure it stays dry.
- +1 y
@dustybiker It’s battery operated with a solar charger sold separately.
I should. I do have a license for inland sailing boats but that was so long ago and I had close to no practice, that I am not sure I could maneuver one.

+1 yYes, but only small ones. I haven't done it in ages though. I know larger boats use the same principle but they are a lot more complicated.
