Has anyone tried this Pooph? Does it even really work?

I thought it was a commercial for Saturday Night Live or some other piece of poor programming. I'll have to defer to Stazz76 and his find on the internet: I searched several of my usual sources for info, MSDS's, etc on the product and came up with zilch.

Limolene, cineole, etc. are simply terpenes and other chemical-types that make up the useful part of essential oils and fragrances. I've dealt with essential oils (EOs) for nearly 30 years as a Massage Therapist and wrote a field guide on the subject.

One of the scariest things we do when we teach about EOs is to take a foam cup, turn it upside down, and put a drop or two of orange oil EO on it. Within a minute or two, it will eat through the foam and collapse the cup. It's just an attention getter/ice breaker to open a class, but it works to do just that. If you know the name of the terpene, you pretty much know from where it comes. Limolene, lemons and limes. Pinene, pine trees. Citriole, citronella. And on and on it goes.

Yep - it's hell annoying. It's so annoying that you're posting a question about it, and people like me who have never heard of the product now know about it. The ad is so annoying that I'll never forget it. That's clever advertising.

So, it looks like just another citrus cleaner to me. Does it work? Citrus fragrances can be so pungent that they can knock out your olfactory system (so you loose your sense of smell). Problem solved! LOL

I doubt that it works even remotely as well as it’s described. First, ALL of those people are paid actors, I have a friend who occasionally does that kind of “wow, the pain is completely gone!” type of commercial work. But the different smells emesis (vomit), urine, feces & skunk spray are completely different chemically, and different chemicals are required to neutralize the different chemical odors! I mean emesis is just acid and enzymes, which is very different to dog and cat urine, which are very chemically different from each-other. Hell, even female and male and female cat urine is completely different chemically. I highly doubt that something that can be sprayed in ones mouth contains ALL of the chemicals needed to neutralize ALL the different odors. Let alone the fact that the odor from feces is caused by bacteria! I would be VERY skeptical of ANY product that ever claims to “do it all”!

I like the part at 0:42 when the Pooph scientists presumably flushed thousands of gallons of Pooph down the drain and they’re waiting for it to reach the drinking water supply but then they’re doing “sciency” things and confirming it’s safe for the entire planet. But, yes, it’s very annoying. It’s like a retread of a Febreeze commercial, which were also annoying.
