Have you ever gotten your sweet revenge? Lmao. Or just a good “I told you so”?
One of the teams in my hockey league drafts a lot of the same players each season (new season every 4 months or so), they had jerseys made, and the captain tries to re-draft guys so he doesn’t have to haggle with the jersey company to get a small order made for new guys. But he definitely seems to be trying to cultivate the best team possible, and re-drafts the best guys. I apparently didn’t make that cut this past draft, so like any lunatic athlete, I manufactured a whole story of disrespect in my mind, lmfao.
Well, my new team finally played them them for the first time, and we just got in our sweet new uniforms that day. First shift of the game, probably my first 30 seconds on the ice, I scored a goal. And you know I pimped the hell out of it for my old team’s sake😂 I skated by the old team’s bench, looked at the captain, said “you could’ve had me, what were you thinking?”, and since we have our last names on the jerseys, I hit them with the double thumb point at my name and told them to remember it next time, lmfao. No real animosity, it was all lighthearted and in good fun, but that still was a sweet moment.
We went on to lose 6-1, lmfao, but I did get our Player Of The Game dog bone my team gives out, and it was the day in between my lady and father’s birthday’s, so I was able to dedicate the performance to them, which was pretty special in my dad’s case, it was his 91st👍

So far the most recent is we got knocked out in the final four 2 years ago, and final 8 last year by the same team.
They haven't lost a game in 3 years. This season we gjve them their first lost in 3 years. Felt pretty good😌 now hopefully we can do it in the tourney this year and get me my national championship before hang em up forever
That’s what’s up! Go get that Natty!🏆
Don’t hang it up forever though! You can still run the court at the YMCA, those bums will have no answer for you, lmao.
I'm done with organized as a player. Never gonna stop playing.
But i plan to transition into coaching AAU
Nice. Probably will be nice to be on the other side of the whistle for a change. Imagine just blowing a whistle and watching while everyone is running suicides😂
So true.🤣🤣 my hs coach used to run laps with us.
That made us respect her a lot. Like look at her out her wit us.
I probably run laps but yeah suicides and stairs I'm done when this season is over🤣
Love to see it. Gotta respect a coach that gets sweaty with you. But yeah, definitely would be looking to retire from stairs and sueys ASAP lmao. Good luck the rest of the season!
Thank you🥰
I won the $100,000,000,000 jackpot , drove straight to work the next day, parked my car in the fire zone and then marched straight into my bosses office and bitched slapped him into next Tuesday.
Then I woke up.
Never stop dreaming!😝
I thought you were kidding about the double reverse thumb point...😂 😂 That's awesome! So you scored on your first shift then nada the rest of the game? Yikes... good luck this season!
HAD to hit ‘em with it😂 First jersey I’ve ever had with my name on the back, and it just hit me like “oh shit, I can point at my own name now”, lmao.
It was all downhill from there though, haha. Only three of the four teams were captained at the time of the draft, and our team was the fourth one, and the others “picked a team” for us, which basically was throwing us a fast kid with questionable hands and acting like that was our sufficient ringer. Meanwhile, another team has five of the best defensemen in our league, can’t get much past the blueline before you just have to fire a desperate shot or none at all. This team I was playing is probably second-best, more of an offensive threat of a team though. Either way, they just threw us most of the “unknown” new guys (but I’d say we have the best goalie…. gotta give him more support, he’s doing his best out there but he’s just getting peppered, half our guys don’t backcheck, etc). So this might be a long season, haha. We won for the second time vs another team though, and they haven’t won yet, so we aren’t in the basement, at least. Got a couple guys who look like they know what they’re doing but are older/out of shape. 4-team league, so we’re all in the playoffs no matter what. Just need to figure it out by April. If we get the 3-seed we play the #2 team, and if we could somehow knock them off, we’d at least have a shot. Never know who won’t be able to make it to a game in beer league, so you just cross your fingers and hope their stud has their kid’s dance recital that night or something, haha. But yeah…we have a lot of room for improvement😂
That's funny you mentioned the spotty back checking, I dealt with that on about every team I was on. Frustrating af.
A couple guys who are newer to the sport were asking some basic positioning questions as wingers. Found a couple videos that details positioning and/or coverage responsibilities in each zone. Going to post it to the whole team’s group text thread, make it out like I’m just helping the newest guys, but I kind of want to say that we all need to be better about it, we’d have like 3 or 4 guys going after the puck carrier or a loose puck. Just want to point out that since we aren’t stacked for talent then we need to be more fundamentally sound. The other teams are much better with it, it’s just a beer league thing I guess, but just like…. imagine if we backchecked? Imagine if we covered the points? Imagine if we just did all the things everyone else is too lazy to do?
I used to play Madden and NCAA Football video games online like 10-12 years ago, and I’m not the greatest gamer with my thumb skills…. but I realized those guys who are mostly were reckless and didn’t play conventionally wise football. Never punted, never kicked field goals, just lived and died by the touchdown and 4-down football. So I just DIDN’T do that, and played smart football like you would in real life. One time I beat the #1 ranked player (he beat me many other times lmao), and it was just by playing the right way. So I’m thinking if we apply that same idea in beer league when everyone else is playing disorganized and careless, it’ll only benefit us, and might help offset talent disparities.
* The other teams AREN’T much better with it
