Hmm, I am not much good with cars or fixing things. I asked my husband and he said that if you go to an auto parts store, there might be an interior adhesive that you could use to at least get it to stick back to the roof.
He said you want to make sure that you don't over stretch the fabric or it won't stay real well. I will respond to my opinion here if he finds the name of the stuff he is thinking of. What country are you from by the way so he can look for the appropriate store to get that stuff?
We are not from the US but he can find stores and browse online and hopefully find something that would work for you. I agree that is a lot of money to replace that part and better to try to fix and get by if you can.

Go to the hardware store & get a roll of duct tape.
Not a good situation and the equivalent of appropriately colored duct tape is the best way to go. Do manufacture name interior upholstery fix and will give you more specifics.
You'll want to check with companies that would do the repairs

3m spray adhesive type 77 most autoparts stores have it
You could probably half-ass glue it back in, but upholstery is a rough DIY job
