Yep, over time I have made some close friends on the site. I talk to a small group of them almost daily. Aside from that, here are some helpful starter tips.

1. Please use English when asking questions and opining. This is a global community, but GaG asks that English be used. Replies to opinions can be in any language!

2. Make sure you put any questions you ask in the appropriate category. If you accidentally put it in the wrong topic, ask a moderator to move it for you. Those are users with badges on their profile images (‘m’ for Moderator, ’s’ for Super Moderator and ‘u’ for Uber Moderator.

3. Don’t spam the same question over and over. Vary your questions and the way you ask them.

4. If someone trolls you, don’t troll back. Be the bigger person.

5. Don’t post offensive, explicit or inappropriate content.

6. Check out the FAQ section for rules of the site. https://www.girlsaskguys.com/faq

7. Engage users in a meaningful way and try to be polite and helpful when giving an opinion.

8. Remember to select MHO or Most Helpful Opinion if you think a user deserved it for answering your question.

9. If you see a user breaking the rules, use the report function by clicking the three dots on the top right and selecting “Report” from the overflow menu.

10. Don’t go anonymous unless absolutely necessary. By not going anon, you start to build a reputation and users will recognize your username and want to engage you on the forum.

a long time ago it used to be more friendly chat place, than just Q&A
they had adding friends feature not just following,
they had a private chat feature where you can talk to people who were online
and they had option for several photos you can upload to your profile so others can see more of you and get to know you more, it used to be really cool/fun, downvotes used to be visible.

now it's similar but different.
no more chat feature, no more friends, just followers and following, and downvotes don't show anymore lol because it made peoples feelings get "hurt"

people here complained that it wasn't a "dating site" so they removed anything that could contribute to people chatting more than just the Q&A but they took some valuable part away from this site in doing that. Many people left and became really dead zone for few years. Only now it seems to start to get a little more movement but it had really died here for a bit.

they also made a Spanish version of this and it was awful. they allowed naked stuff and and now they deleted it but they should have just added moderation instead of deleting it because it was still fun.

The original Turkish version of this site is the one with more action but it's in Turkish so only those who know how to read that can benefit from that.

you can try to make friends here but it just does not compare to how it used to be before. If you don't want to make friends then yes it's really just a Q&A place.

Too many people on here are trolls and creeps, so I don't bother with talking to anyone on here.

If you're not a catfish, but genuinely asking, then you just go on here to state your own opinion. Everyone loves doing that in life, so here you get to do it while bored and you can meet some "friends" on here. Most people do that, but there are also a lot of horny bastards on here.

They'll ask sexual questions, message you, pretend to be women, and are overall just very weird.
