How retentive is your memory?

Not very. I'm terrible with names.

Even when I'm watching movies, I can't remember the names of the characters.

When I read things, I can't regurgitate names or dates, but I do remember certain details the basic points. And what I read does make an impression on my opinions.

I have to study things to lock in names, dates and details.

What's funny is, I can remember lots of things from my life, even from a very early age like 2 or 3. I can see them vividly. And I have a very good memory for music, but not lyrics.

Retentive? I guess you mean how good is it. I can remember things from when I was 2, probably even 1!
I remember quite a lot of my dreams and have heard from a lot of people that say they don't remember any of them, even though they have a great head for other details! My neighbor said that just yesterday! He can't remember his dreams but, if I tell him the number of a record (yesterday, it was King 45-5364), he can tell me what it was, when it came out and probably if he has a copy!! (He's got about 36,000 records)!
I have a huge collection, too (about 62,000) and, all my life, I've actually attached memories to a lot of my records. If want to try to remember when something happened, I think of a song that I heard at that time or, a record I bought then and that narrows the timeline down drastically. Or, I can play a song and it'll remind me of stuff that happened back then when I first got/heard it.

If I remember being constantly bullied in middle school. I remember one of of my brother’s teammates threw his lunch at me when my back was turned. I decided to walk over to him but it just wasn’t my brother and the kid. A majority of the basketball team was there. I don’t know how long I was standing there but my brother didn’t say a single word. Honestly I don’t think he even moved a muscle. I was an 11 year old kid being bullied and I still remember that
