Have you ever seen grass that grows tiny purple flowers at the ends of each blade?

A couple days ago, I saw this very small tuft of long grass growing in the front yard that has tiny purple flowers growing on it!! I've never seen anything liker it before and I've been living here for the past 3.5 years and my grandmother owned the house since 1963!! I've been up here hundreds of times before and NEVER saw that before!!

Yep, that happens when you don't cut the grass down.

It didn't happen two years ago!! I had no lawn mower and nobody would cut it for me or lend me their mower so, it got to be at least knee high! I've seen loads of very grass taller than that (in one yard, it was about a foot taller than me and I'm 6' 9"!) and never once saw these flowers on any of it.

Maybe different type of grass this year?

We had all sorts of blossoms in the grass when it grew for two weeks or longer.

Yes, usually I get a letter from the HOA or the town by the time my grass gets that tall though.

This is only about 5" tall and it's only one little tuft, not the whole lawn.

Yep. I have seen purple, blue, and white flowers like that

No idea, I'd have to look it up.
Looked. No, there's lots of that in the yard but that's not what this is. Picture ordinary grass about 5" tall with almost exactly those same flowers growing at the very tip of each blade of grass.
