Does TikTok suggest you account cause you text them or cause they add you to their contact list?

I believe it’s changed. For a long while it only showed friends that were in my contacts. Now it shows friends of friends too. I noticed it also suggests strangers. I’ve got people from Japan and elsewhere showing in my “you may know”.

I texted with two of my female coworkers at a new job and TikTok suggested me their accounts, i thought it was creepy, like how do they know I know them.

Every single app on social media tracks your data. This is how they allow you to import your contacts, suggest things to you off sites you were looking at (like clothes or Amazon products), everything is tracked lol. You can turn it off manually through your settings, I know you can do that on iPhone. Be warned, turning off that feature won’t allow you access to a few apps.
