She said thank you but I thought this complement sounds like something an older person would say to a younger person.

It's a nice compliment, but not a great one for a pickup line.

Are we to assume that you are romantically interested in this lady, or are you just concerned about the "look" of your social media post?

Also, was this a public or private post to her?

If you're not interested in her, don't worry about it.

If you can talk to her, tell her that you second-guessed the way you worded your post and you wanted to tell her that. Add in the fact that you are interested in her.

This isn’t the first time I interacted with her.
It was a public post but she would see the response as a private message on instagram.
She is family oriented and is involved in doing things that deserve praise so I thought this would make her feel good.

I would say it depends on the age or who's telling me that-
If he's older than I am- say my brother or father's age? I'd consider that an okay compliment.

But if a guy my age or younger said that to me? I'd... be confused, lol. No, it's not bad, just unorthodox to have someone your age tell you that your mother would be proud to have you as a daughter.
