The more you use a language, interacting with others, the more efficient you'll be at the language. It's like, if you want to believe you've mastered a skill, teach the skill. When you teach it, you'll discover the parts you've mastered and the parts you still need to brush up on. Read questions and answer them to the best of your ability. Show an interest in getting feedback on how you can express yourself more accurately or succinctly. Practice makes perfect.

Just be careful of people wanting to use you for their own selfish purposes. Don't be gullible.

You're welcome. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Understand there's a learning curve for everything. Don't pressure yourself to be perfect. We either succeed or learn. The only true failure is a failure to act.

Not all people who speak English speak correct English. Also, realize different English speaking countries speak different English. All Americans, British, Canadians, New Zealanders and Australians don't necessarily understand each other.

      Here's some examples:
Here is a key on what to look for between UK and US spellings
Elimination of the silent u: Thus our to or and iour to ior (colour/color, behaviour/behavior)
Change from s to z: Thus -isation to –ization and ise to ize [plus yse to ise] (civilisaton/civilization, theorise/theorize [analyse, analyze])
Change from -ence to -ense: Thus licence becomes license and defence becomes defense
Inversion of r and e: Thus metre and meter, fibre and fiber
Simplification of -ogue: Thus –ouge becomes –og (catalogue/catalog, dialogue/ dialog)
When a British person is looking for a lift, that person is looking for an elevator. When an American is looking for a lift, they're looking for a ride.

Be prepared. The English language is the most messed up language in the world, and it seems like people want to make it more confusing with each new generation. There are more exceptions than rules.

I guess that depends on which part of which English speaking country you find yourself in, but that's not saying adults will understand adolescents. Just put forth a good effort and enjoy a good laugh when you experience the results.

Flustered is a word. Frustrated is a word. Flustrated is not a word, yet you'd be surprised how often I've heard people say flustrated.
When you talk about something someone excels at, we call it their forte. Originally it was pronounced FORT, yet so many people say FORTAY that dictionaries now say either is permissible.
The Oxford English Dictionary is updated 4 times every year. Do you think you can keep up with all the changes?

Unfortunately, you chose a weird language to learn. I'm sure you'll learn it, but don't beat yourself up if you stumble. Even if you fall, you can still get back up. I'm impressed with anyone who puts forth legitimate effort to accomplish a task. There are too many people who go through life expecting handouts rather than taking charge of the direction they choose to go.

You're the one winning when you acquire a new language. Read this: dana.org/.../

Yes but you need to be somewhat active with different people. Go out of your comfort zone, got it? Which languages do you speak besides English?

Yeah probably. At least thr reading and writing. Ask questions and post opinions. Reply to people and practice your English that way. Certainly doesn't hurt. Conversational language is what I always found the hardest. To listen to someone speak and know what they said and respond speaking is tough. I took a lot of Spanish in school but then never used it. I forgot so much. You have to keep up the practice as much as you can. Good luck! 😊
