I joined the gym again, I haven’t been there since Covid started so I’m feeling a bit nervous. I’m super introverted as well. What I have issue with is something that many may feel is not a big problem lol. But it’s really how do I greet people at the gym? I chose to go at a time that is super quiet but there’s still people there. If I have to walk past a group, do I just stare straight ahead and walk? Do I make eye contact or what? Today I was approaching someone and we both made eye contact and I smiled and said hello. Since I’m back after a while, I’m considering myself a newbie and people who don’t recognize me are obviously watching lol. I just feel weird. Also I don’t want a personal trainer, how do I decline the trainers who approach me? Thanks! Any other advice for introverts will be super helpful, thanks!

You don't have to acknowledge others, but a polite head nod as you pass if you make eye contact is enough if you feel like it.
If trainers approach, just say "no thank you". You can even repeat that endlessly if they keep insisting.
You'll be ok!

To the trainers, just say “no I’m all good, thank you” and you don’t have to say hi to everyone there. Just smile at them if you make eye contact. Playing some music in your headphones also is a good way to drown everyone out and forget about where you are.
