After sliding down the dark hall/stairwell of raging water, most of us students land right outside safely, while others didn’t make it. And we see cops carrying body bags everywhere. I notice everyone walking like zombies looking straight traumatized but some of us call someone in our phones to come get us. In passing, I see my old friend (tommy) and he asks where lizzie is and i tell him she’s still upstairs but chose to get in a car, and that I think she may be trying to hurt herself. He panics and says he going back to get her. Like great, now I have to worry about two of my friends.
I continue walking with others and we head down an outdoor path of steps. I see a toddler walking past me alone and I run to him and grab him up as others were stampeding over him, knocking him down. I’m carrying the boy but then this woman runs over saying, “Omg he’s mine! You found him!”. I smile and pass him over yet something doesn’t sit right with me. So I turn and say “I’m sorry for the hesitation, I just initially wouldn’t have guessed he was yours.” The baby looks shook.
But the woman hurriedly walks off with him smiling. I then hear her mumble “WELL he's MINE NOW.” And i feel like an idiot for not turning him over to the cops instead. Everyones looking at me crazy saying “WHAT DID YOU JUST DO” but we’re also so shook from the flood/slide that we just keep walking in different directions. Then I see my friend (lizzie) coming down the hill alone realizing she survived! I briefly think of Tommy going back in and the kid perhaps being kidnapped, yet I’m so ecstatic to see Lizzie I start crying against her. But then I wake up… literally shaking.
