I’m not sure if I ever struggled per-say. When I wanted money…I went out to make money as young as before 10. I think my mom never fed me enough, so I went out to look for metal scraps, cardboards to sell. The money I made, I bought snacks.
In the US, my mom gave birth to my little sister so, we had one income from my dad for a family of 6. He was making $700. a month back then. We were on food stamps for two years and my mom always felt embarrassed collecting food stamps. We all started to make money in our early teens to buy food for the family. All those years, we lived very happy, very basic.

30 years later, all 4 of us siblings are very successful. We made the American dreams.

I had to drop out of college twice because i ran out of money. When my kids were little we were living a little above the poverty line. If one of them had to go to the doctor we could not go to the supermarket that week.

while everyone was buying cars and partying i was working overtime not taking days off didn't have much of a life in my 30s and 40s but was all worth it the only thing, I have to worry about is if the fish are biting.
