I've been in the ocean plenty of times. There's sharks out there... If you go in the ocean enough you will see them while you're surfing, while snorkeling or SCUBA diving, you'll catch them while fishing, etc. That said, I don't really have an interest in pouring blood and chum around me while sitting in a snack rack to get them all hot and bothered. There's plenty of other ways to see sharks. You'd only really want to cause a feeding frenzy if you wanted to study how they feed.

I've swam with leopard sharks; they're pretty harmless. I've probably swam with other sharks that I didn't know were there, as recently some people used drones to record adolescent Great Whites hanging out in close proximity to surfers and swimmers without the humans being aware of it.

I've swam with nurse and sand sharks, the latter of which I've actually been bumped into a couple times. Didn't mind it. Actually thought it was kind of peaceful.

Depends on the type of shark. Most sharks are harmless, but I'd check anyway before joining them.
