Some sharks seem just..."dogs of the sea"... as docile as your local Mini Shnauzer... usually.

But you just never whose gonna show up for dinner do ya... Great White...4:50

Or sometimes sharks are quite aggressive... and hungry.

But you can see some cool stuff... the first sunk German U-boat off USA east coast. My condolences to the unfortunate humans there.

Some learnings:

* Lots of swimmers, spear fishing, snorkling, people fall out of boats

* People pulled off shore by a wave, attacked in boats, or jumping into rivers and off piers... get bitten or killed.

I've never been scuba diving.

One time I was surfing in SoCal. I was maybe 16. The waves were big, so I paddled out beyond the break. All of a sudden, I saw a black dorsal fin cut through the water no more than 50' away. It freaked me out and I paddled like crazy to catch the first available wave and belly boarded my surfboard all the way to shore.
I was about to start shouting "Shark!" when I saw another fin and then another, and realized that they were dolphins. LOL

I don't care to encounter any sharks or anything that can take chunks out of me.

100% agree. I jumped in water with sharks on a snorkling trip. As soon as I saw them, couldn't wait to get out.
I have no interest in scuba, being deep under water scares me. But I find hanging out with sharks cool and progress for human/shark relationship.

Actually sharks were originally called sea dogs, it wasn't until the 17-18th centuries that the word shark took hold. Even now 'dog' appears in many shark names, DOGfish, SMOOTH HOUND, spurDOG. Even now in Wales sharks are called morgi meaning sea dog.

I'd love to go swimming with sharks, the ones that don't eat people of course.

I have gone swimming with big bluefish and they sort of made me pee my wetsuit. I would not like to see a shark.
