What are your thoughts on shark cage diving?

Sharks are wild, unpredictable fish. If you like taking risks that expose you to danger, go ahead. I suppose you'll have loads of pictures, but I think there's loads of safer diving far more fun and interesting and I've done some of it.
The ocean bottom in 25-75 feet has much to see all over the world. Great Barrier Reef, areas off Cozumel, even oil rig dives off the Gulf of Mexico. I hope to do No. 1 and No. 3 before too long. Have done No. 2. Was lovely straight off the beach and during a twilight dive: cuttle fish, basket sponges as big as a man's leg, the colors, variety.
Sharks are big, ancient fish that are dangerous. I get my thrills in other ways. I'd rather see whales in Alaska, or dolphins, which I did when fishing in Lake Borgne this past Friday; and in the distance an alligator as long as our bay boat. Pulled in a haul of speckled trout with my son and cousin under clouded skies and streaks of sunlight.
I take few and small risks and seek beauty and variety. I don't get much of that from sharks.
That's beautiful
I prefer people observe animals in their natural environment... and I'll be praying for them from the shore.
Agreed. But to each their own. They know the risks.
If you want to purposely antagonize sharks, then it's good to have a metal cage between you and them... I've seen plenty of sharks in the ocean from a distance when diving. They've always left me alone. But I remember one time when I was surfing in Juno Beach just off a reef a a tiger shark swam right under me maybe 2 or 3 feet from me. I yelled shark as it darted past my brother who was about 10 feet closer to shore, then I heard the screams of pain a couple seconds later of some other surfer I didn't know about 50 feet away. We got out of the water quickly to help. By the time I got to shore the other surfer was on shore limping up the beach with other people that lent a hand. a giant chunk of his leg was gone and blood was everywhere. They strike fast even when you don't chum the water with blood and guts... Stay safe.
It's for cowards. No cages, just go in with sharks without those barriers; sharks are dangerous but they are not the insane drama that has been portrayed by thriller movies.

Not sure why but the system was making me fill out endless catpchas for attaching videos? I did about 15 of them then realized it was an endless loop.

its amazing and i can only say do it if you get the chance. i was lucky enough to do this in South Africa and was amazed at the sight of the shark so close and how stealthy it was. its perfectly safe and dont follow films like 47m down etc as this will only put you off and very unlikely to happen.
i can also recommend that you try shark diving out of the cage also. i was luck to do this on the barrier reef in Aus. again it was truly amazing experience and one i will never forget. i was told before hand that they would be swimming around my head and just to not panic. they are after the food in the bin that was brought round in front of all the divers and as it passed i must have had 5-7 sharks swimming around me, they weren't interested in me, they just wanted the food. the bin was then taken into the middle of the area (away from the divers, but close enough that we had a good view) and then opened the bin and the tuna heads popped out. a feeding frenzy then started and was amazing to witness. after the heads had been eaten, the sharks all disappeared not interested in us as we are too bonny and not very nice to eat lol. after which we carried on our dive and saw the rest of the reef.
Whats worse is that dumb 47 Meters Down. Horrible film... such a waste of time... the sequel was good tho

@DizzyDesii I never saw 47 meters down & that probably in the category with sharknado.
What made 47 meters down is that its one of those “Was it a dream the whole time?” Type film. You never really know but feel like you wasted your time. The action however was good like in The Shallows
I would never do it. I saw a video of a shark jumping inside the cage of one group and going bananas. U find ur cats tongue be be painful to touch imagine a jaw full of razoer blades with u in a cage, with sand paper like skin
DANGEROUS!!! Something I would never do. It's looking for trouble.
@Fuentes From what I know there aren't many homeless people. It's a rich country but its resources and people are misused. The fact that we had the same president for 38 years and two wars also didn't help us.
Not many people visit Angola, so it's not known for tourism. I wouldn't advise you go out at night if you visited my country and you should avoid certain areas in the capital city, Luanda.
I'd love to do it but it encourages sharks to associate people with food and that's got obvious consequences.
looks like a thrill til something goes wrong.
I'll pass.
Look at the damage on the shark... big female... females take a lot of abuse. One of the great examples... gotta wonder how such species survived to last so long.
No if I wanted to see sharks, I could go to SeaWorld or something similar, instead of taking this risk in a cage.
Know a person who does it without the cage. It is done in a group and they sort of huddle together. Maybe they look too big for the shark that way.
I don't have the least idea why she does it.
I did a shark dive years ago, no cage. However, the sharks were not Great Whites. I'll pass on that adventure!
They know the risks; they like the exhilaration. I race cars and motorcycles. I can get just as dead.
an awesome experience
sharks are amazing creatures but shitty human beings who can't turn off their bigotry and irrational fears have lead to many of these animals getting wiped out
It sounds uninteresting. But the United States is a "free" country. As long as you have insurance that protects the tax payers from your stupidity, jump in.
I love sharks! With the right cage setup I’m totally down, though I’d probably opt to go with diving gear instead of an air line run from the boat in case the shark gets a little curious about the line.
Not something I'd do, but it IS important to helping people see sharks as the amazing animals they are, and not just horror movie monsters.
Looks like a one in a life time thing, to be able to get so close to those animals. But I'm too scared of the sea so I probably won't do it. Just look at the size of that shark.
No, I don't trust the cage bars. My son did it in South Africa and was thrilled by it but it scared him a lot. The shark really tried to get inside the cage. He was glad the cage held. It was a great white shark.
Another example of a risky adventure that can be very dangerous... and there are plenty of people who go for it... but not me!
I would f#@@king love to do it someday. On my bucket list.
No cage, I want to swim with them. It's a dream of mine. Shark frien :)
Same like the "tube" that imploded with the millionaire's that wanted to see "titanic" 🤷♂️
I absolutely hate scuba diving and certainly don't want to do it in a shark cage.
Am not doing it, that's for sure. But people should do it if they want
Dangerous, scary but a hell of a experience to have someday. Definitely a adrenaline rush 💪
I looked at a trip down near Mexico, and found it was pricier than I wanted to pay.
no interest. I went scuba diving and saw a shark that was enough. I was done diving , I done want a life with missing limbs.
Not for me, would be glad to watch videos from the people who do but, I don’t want to be a snack in a cage.
Looks fun but I don't go where I don't belong.
The ocean is for sea creatures to be, not humans.
Seems like that’s a safe way of viewing a shark. Taking yourself out of their path, even if they try to get you.
Better than a submersible…. lol
Never, never! When you are in the ocean. You are the illegal alien in their waters. If you happen to get injured or worse. Don’t blame the sharks!
My thought: it never gets boring when you're a shark.
It is amazing to see them up that close.
I try anything once and as long the sharks are very aggressive and the cage is stong I be okay to try it.
I don't really understand why people do those kinds of things
Stupid, but not quite as stupid as swimming with sharks.
Leave the shark alone. I'll bet $1,000 the tourists are dumping trash into the ocean with the shark.
Um, no. I don't go in submersibles looking at the Titanic either.
Not my idea of a good time. But hey, if someone else wants to, they should enjoy themselves.
It looks like an adventure, but for me I wouldn’t like it just because I kinda have a fear of the ocean. How deep it is and I’m alone.
The idea sounds dope. But I've seen too many terribly made horror movies about equipment malfunction in relation to diving w sharks. Irrational fear? Maybe. Still won't go😂
I find it awesome, as long as the shark wasn’t abused.
I think to myself wow what would happen if a shark managed to get to those people
It is very cool but better without a cage be in their own Enviromint
I would love to do that and Guadalupe Island with the big boys.
Safer than submersibles to Titanic.
@menina a psyop means a Psychological Operations (Psyop) our Military and CIA and NSA and other federal Law agencies have Psyop Groups among them.
I do think the US practices this among our people to distract us. Im only speaking out of theory but I personally think It was a distraction is all to get people to ignore the US just sent another 6.5 billion to Ukraine on accident, they say lol meanwhile the people are still homeless & inflation is still up.
@menina lol yeah he's south African idkk here from tho haha people forget about Morroocoo, Egypt and South Africa filled with all kinds of races then just black people hahaha and yup people think it's knew whole country like Australia when really its a continent full of many countries just one hahahaha
go to malta the sharks come to you
Dumb daredevil type ish.
I wanna do it
Wouldn't do it. I've seen 47 meters down.
you ain't gonna see me in them shits lol
Just as dangerous as going in without a cage
I’ve heard of people going in in cages and still dying
Sc.. Scary
Let’s do it
I want to cage dive one time before I die
It must be awesome! Hopefully one day I will do it
Nah I'm not doing that
I love sharks. Sexy animals :)
Where do I sign up?
Good to watch on tv in person no.
No thanks I like my limbs
Not something I’m into, but they’re cool
It’s an experience I want to have.
