So is the light bulb ; It enabled people to economically store large amounts of data on a very stable media. People could pirate software and music and exchange them. Garage bands had the ability to make their own CDs.
I remember being in Comp USA and there was a whole aisle dedicated to CD burners, blank disks, jewel cases, labels and shrink wrap machines.

I have used them a lot myself, but they are limited to an uncomfortable extent relative to size. I use thumb drives now which are better in this regard.

@msc545 Yes. even a DVD holds less than 30 GB. I am using a flashdrive that holds 2 TB and it is tiny.

@NathanDavis Super bacteria are simply bacteria that don't respond to antibiotics, for the most part because people haven't taken enough antibiotics for the initial infection. Worst case scenario with super-bacteria is that it is as lethal as an untreated bacterial infection.
