I grew up with dogs and after seeing all the work that my dad had to do with our labs and German shepherds over the years, was determined to have a lower maintenance pet.
I'd always wanted a cat, but mom wouldn't get me one because she thought the dogs would kill it, she said. Maybe she just didn't like cats. Don't know.
I had a few sub-par cats that I had to return to the rescue I got them from. Just so feral there was no having them in a home. Tore everything up. Ugh. But I had three or four very fine cats.
The last cat I had, also a stray, rubbed itself on my 3-year-old's legs and he said "kitty." I had been determined to NOT have any more cats, but I couldn't deny my son what could be a decent pet and "Whitey," an all-white, golden-eyed BIG cat- all 13 muscular pounds of him, lived with us, indoors and outdoors from age 7 months to 16 years. He never used a litter box, but patiently waited in silence by the door until we let him out, or meowed outside the door to be let in for feeding and the night.
He slept at the foot of my son's bed, lounged on the sofa or in the sun in the back yard. He was a loud purrer. He had a few lumps from territorial fights he'd engage in, though I fixed him the moment we took him in. But otherwise, he was an ideal cat. We did have to wash him occasionally because, well, snow-white doesn't wear so well, despite his self-cleaning.
Otherwise he was sweet and good-natured. Had one inside accident when I left him inside too long. And instead of going on the floor, he pooed and peed in the tub. I crowed about what a wonderful cat he was TO him for ages and told everybody I knew about what great manners he had.
One in a million.
How can you not like them?

Cats are very independent of humans. Unless you keep them in all the time. But a cat that appreciates you caring for them can become clingy.
I purrfer indoor/outdoor, female cats. They are less aggressive than male cats and more affectionate.
I don’t mind dogs, but they are too dependent on their owners and can be very loud and destructive.
Single men would be better suited as cat owners. Single men can learn a lot about women by having a cat. A single man with a cat and a house, shows women that they are responsible and up for commitment.
Single women living alone need a dog and a pistol. The dog reduces her need to plug a hole in a dude.
Umm, that last line is pretty strange. I have neither and have been single since Feb. 2000. Have had no feelings of a need to plug any dudes or a desire to have a dog. Too needy and I want to exercise on MY schedule, not a dog's toilet needs. ewww.

I love cats. Cute and cuddly, but way more low-maintenance and way less demanding of attention than a dog. I love dogs too, but I try to avoid doing anything in life “full time”, and dogs are definitely a full time commitment. Cats can be left to themselves a bit, just leave them food and water, they’ll probably just sleep most of the time you’re gone. The wrong kind of dog will tear your home up over that😂

@DeeDeeDeVour They're memes
Cute memes.
Well , even despite all the obvious dangers and cats are really not a natural animal as such , if they are actually cared for I love cats , I love how they control things , how they thing , how lazy and active they can be.
I don't have one now , but I'm hoping to have one in my new place.
It's pretty clear, WE LOVE CATS!..
However, It is also clear that Cat's hates us!.. It is UNREQUITED LOVE!.. That is rooted in Obsession. However, since Cats consider us their pets. They every once in a while shower us with affection. Just enough to keep us HOOKED, and make us serve them, by bringing them food, and cleaning their litterbox.
Love them

I like cats, but I've never had one before. They seem pretty chill and not that high maintenance, especially if they're outdoor cats. Also, they're super soft. I am more of a dog person, though.
I owned one for 15 years from 1999 to 2014. I prefer dogs though actually. They are more loving. My cat's bitten me many times while I was not looking. It hurt actually. It bled and my scars had fangs/teeth on them.
Lol I KNEW I wouldn't get MHO just because it was a negative (though truthful) answer. You guys are lame lol.
They're just an animal... they're not smart enough to come up with a final solution.

I'm a dog fan and below you can see why. But how anyone can "hate" cats is beyond my comprehension.
I had two cats. I really miss them.

I have 15+. 3 generations, Grays, tuxedos, yellow tabby and calico. 3 are lap cats. Others are semi-wild. None live in my house. I guess I like them. It's like having a pride of lions on a small scale in my yard.
My cat is sitting on my lap rn and he looks offended
I had an account four years ago on here and for some odd reason chose not to follow anyone. That's bled into my behaviour now 😅 it's not personal, I just don't follow people on here
Love them too much. Can't own any, anymore. I can't take the loss of out living them. It hurts too much... QnQ
there's a reason they rule the earth...
I had a whole litter of kitties and mis those little fur balls.
like them enough but they are too small for me to enjoy their company enough, playing with them is so stressfull.
We don't only like cats, we LOVE them!
Pretty kitty cat 😻😻😸
I dont hate any animal. I just prefer to stay far away from them
My thoughts on the matter are: kitties! 😻😊
Look at this little kitty nazi. I UK the owner could get some serious problems.
I think dogs are more loving. Cats are more selfish.
I love cats. I've had cats all my life. I currently have 3 cats now.
I love my little PITA. That's what she is, not her name.
