People think I’m weird when I tell them I was watching a really good documentary or movie, etc and ended up falling asleep. I honestly don’t think it’s weird at all!! Don’t most people do that on occasion?
+1 yThere is absolutely nothing weird about that, especially if you’re watching basic cable and have to deal with commercials. A problem I will occasionally experience, if I start watching something interesting on Netflix, Is not being able to fall asleep when I was planning on sleeping. Just this weekend, I started watching a documentary about Lewis and Clark, it was so interesting, I didn’t even realize it was on for 3 1/2 hrs! Time flew by! I started watching with the thought it would put me to sleep.

About the only thing I remember about Lewis and Clark, is only one person died during the entire expedition, which for such a big undertaking, was unheard of at that time. They figured close to one third of them would die. I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure that’s how I remember that. For some reason that really stuck out to me.

+1 yVery rarely will I fall asleep watching something interesting. I do remember when I was a kid, every Saturday night , I would stay up to watch Saturday Night Live and every time the band came on, I would fall asleep.

I would usually make it through the first set the band played, but never the second!🤣🤣

@MiddleAgedClimbee Isn’t that funny. I remember going to school on Monday and asking, “How long did you make it”?
- +1 y
I rarely watched SNL but there really wasn’t anything else on at that time.
- +1 y
@MiddleAgedClimbee I think it was a lot funnier back then compared to @Beckybooboo generation. I remember waiting to see Eddy Murphy either do, Buckwheat or Mr. Robin son’s neighborhood. Classics!
- +1 y
Mr. Robinson's neighborhood was absolutely hilarious! Do you remember uncle Jemima? It was a little bit later, maybe in the early to mid 90s.
+1 yIf it's late at night I'll fall asleep if anything is turned on like a movie or tv show. If im talking I'm normally fine. The moment the tv is on I'm out cold.

Do you normally fall asleep with the tv on?
- +1 y
Not usually. I either catch it right before or my boyfriend turns it off.
+1 yIf I watch it in bed, it's a rule lol... not important how good the movie is :D

+1 yI sometimes go through periods where I fall asleep to shows, and have been doing that lately to Futurama. I used to do it to Naruto. It must be animation for me? Actually, that's not true. My girlfriend was visiting me and she's much younger than me so she hasn't seen all the movies I have over the years. So I made a list of my top recommendations and we would watch one in bed. But I fell asleep EVERY time before the movie was over, because we would start it kind of late, and I felt so cozy cuddled up with her. I was kind of bummed because part of watching all these epic movies was I wanted to talk with her about them afterwards lol. But we still had an amazing time and lots of fun, so nbd I guess.

I listened to a podcast about how sleep isn't messed up by blue light the way we've thought, according to more recent studies.

+1 yI fall asleep reading every night, and my wife is typically listening to an audiobook at the same time. I think it's a good way to fall asleep, I'm not so good at falling asleep if a screen is on.

I don’t intend to fall asleep, it just happens. When I tell people they’re always like, “well, it couldn’t have been that good of a movie if you fell asleep”. What is really funny, is when I want to sleep, it needs to be quiet, so when I fall asleep with the tv on, it will eventually wake me up.
- +1 y
I need it quiet too, if I’m trying to read. You don’t find it distracting hearing a audiobook playing?
- +1 y
It's not blaring, and if it does end up, bothering me, I move to the living room. Then she just wakes me up when she comes up to turn off all the lights :-)
+1 yI hate going to bed with the TV on, I don't even have a TV in my room, it's a relationship deal breaker for me if the girl is a TV watcher during bed
21 Reply- +1 y
Completely agree with this! 21 years of living together, we have never had a television in the bedroom, she just likes audiobooks because she can work on crafting projects while she enjoys the book.
m +1 yI do that loads of times, especially if I had an early start or a bloody busy day, I just zonk out and wake up at some daft time.

+1 yIf I begin to feel sleepy but want some background noise for once, I’ll leave the tv on but turn it down just enough to where I can subtly hear it but it’s not keeping me awake
