probably a valid idea for a period of time. Not something I'm well versed in, never seen this issue but I know it's around. I don't know the downsides to the drugs... I stay away from drugs and lawyers and to an extent..."doctors".

This is not free. Taxpayers foot the bill. There should be shame involved with being a junkie instead it is programs like this that normalize the behavior. Drug addiction is a self inflicted condition.

Having to get a drug out of a vending machine to reverse the effect of another drug is not normal and a vending machine doesn't normalize it. What it does instead is give the person another chance. Unlike you, I'm not in favor of the death penalty for drug addicts or even for casual drug use.

There are elderly people that have worked their whole lives and cannot afford their prescriptions and this is what the government wants to spend money on. I do not have any sympathy for druggies. It is self inflicted except for the few that maybe were prescribed oxys for an injury and got addicted.

making it an illness just makes the insurance companies rich and creates a whole new cottage industry. Nobody wants to take responsibility for their actions. It is easier to say it ia a disease, just like cancer.
When I was a kid there was only one kid I knew that used heroin. He was a really bad kid that nobody wanted to hang out with. Now everyone thinks it is cool.

@msc545. I have had to deal with people with drug issues. I have seen all this up close. They are all the same. They never give it up. I di not believe it is a medical condition. This is just a way for these addiction centers to get paid by insurance companies.

Of course, they don't "give it up" any more than you give up breathing. People use drugs habitually in order to feel normal.

@msc545. I never feel normal. I just deal with it. Talk to the local sheriffs that run the county jails. They will tell you that most of the people in jail are there on drug charges. Most of them started using drugs by getting high with their friends. Eventually they tried opiates. Nobody made them use drugs and everyone knows that drugs are addictive. They do it anyway just to be cool.

People that obtain narcan are by definition people who want to live. People that obtain test strips for fentanyl are also demonstrally people who want to live. I think this is self-evident.
