Is it possible to be more fluent in a language that ISN'T your mother tongue?

Have you ever seen a case or known anyone where a person was speaking another language more fluently than their mother tongue? 🤔

As someone who loves learning languages and studied them, I don't think that's possible.
You can become fluent in a language that isn't yours, but you'll always be a master in your mother tongue.
So, I've never seen a case like that.

sure. like lot's of people migrated at a young age and now speak their second language better than their native one. cause they spent more time living in a foreign country.

like for example my uncle who is german like me moved to the usa when he was like 16. he's like 70 now and he barely speaks german anymore.

Sometimes, I tend to be more expressive in English than I am in my mother tongue, but this is mostly because of the rich lexical inventory the English language has.
