Isn’t it interesting how people get outraged over a guy in his 30s or 40s dating a woman in her 20s who apparently isn’t “emotionally mature" but then turn a blind eye to the millions of young men sent off to war?

+1 yI don't know why they're outraged. They are strong empowered women, they don't need protecting.

My husband is military and so is most of my family and friends. I've know quite a few men and also women that never came home. It's not always a bad thing like you might think. Many of them wanted to die for their country. One of my friends even predicted his own death. And yes there are lots of benefits
- +1 y
Sounds to me like your selling benefits from your husband’s eventual death

@SolitarySolace nah I was with my husband way before he joined. I'm just educated on the benefits and have a plan. It is essential for spouses to be prepared. (Also I was mainly talking about the benefits while they are alive and serving. There are benefits after for vets and or gold star families as well)
- +1 y
Right. Totally believe that. Let’s just assume that’s true
- +1 y
@SolitarySolace i got with my husband when he was 15. He couldn't even legally join yet
- +1 y
That’s way too young to get with someone. Surprised you two haven’t divorced yet
- +1 y
@SolitarySolace not too young at all. It's normal to meet your spouse young at least where I grew up that's the norm
- +1 y
Where I’m from that’s just sad.
- +1 y
@SolitarySolace are you from somewhere where people are just hoes when they are younger? Lol
- +1 y
I’m from somewhere where people especially women are hoes all their life

@SolitarySolace how lovely lol

I diagnose and treat veterans who have PTSD for a living. There's nothing glamorous about being in the military and these are men who have been severely traumatized and abused in wars. Only people who have never been in a war or who have never treated people who have been in a war think that war and the military or glamorous and a great career.
+1 yI think you have a very good point in that we're exploiting a lot of young people but what I would like is to stop doing that whether we're exploiting them sexually or militarily.
So I think I'm consistent that way against the exploitation of young people even though my priorities might rest these days on the sexual and relationship.
Also people who don't volunteer for the military are usually a bit "smarter" if military people will forgive me for saying that or if they're smart, they're really willing to die on their hill. I want to hedge my bets to the people who are confused about what hill to die upon.

Also there is a kind of nobility and romance to the young and dumb soldier. Take one who is raised from boyhood to want to serve his country. Then he serves and get shot between the eyes in his first battle or skirmish.
We celebrate him for some reason, F*ed up or not. We admire his bravery and ignore his foolishness. Sometimes I do genuinely think this is so stupid but maybe we some of those types of stupid young people in our society to make it better. Maybe that's why we have a yearning to be that stupid person sometimes because that stupid person is still noble, useful, brave, virtuous in many ways.
Then take 20-year old woman living with her parents who loses her virginity to a man 10, maybe even 20 years older than her, and she gets pregnant and he wants no part of it. Who admires that? Who says that is how we should be as 30+ year old men taking this type of advantage of such a young girl with her whole life ahead of her and ruining her whole life?
She never will and never should be an example to follow for anybody, unlike that young boy who died in the front lines. If we're talking about what's stupid, maybe it's stupid that we glorified that young boy. But no one should glorify the young girl and the men who exploited her. - +1 y

At least she’s alive. Men are just disposable afterthoughts no one gives a shit about unless he is canon fodder or getting himself killed to keep a bitch alive

@SolitarySolace You value living too much in my opinion and not enough living, however short or long, to a sense of purpose. If I die rescuing a woman from drowning who then goes on to invent SkyNet that dooms all of humanity, I'm still happy with what I did. That's still the right thing to do because I couldn't have known that she would have done that. I don't think you got that down yet and I think that makes you a lot less happy than you could be.
- +1 y
What’s wrong with valuing living? Why would you be happy to save someone who doesn’t give a flying fuck about you?
- +1 y
@SolitarySolace Because it's meaningful and beautiful, and if you question each day of your life like what's in it for you, then I don't find anything to envy there. Ideally women would do this too but we just start with what we can control as I see it.
Do you think you're happy than I am? I could use some work for sure but if you'll forgive me, I really don't think you're very happy at all. I really think I'm doing way better in this regard as much work as I have to do.
Because if you question what's in it for you all the time, how can you appreciate the rainy day and the silver lining in the clouds, or the way splashing through puddles reminds you of your childhood? You have no childhood to remember so fondly as I see it. You killed what semblance of happiness there. Please correct me if I'm wrong but you might consider me naive but I'll consider you unhappy. - +1 y
You honestly believe women would do this too? 🤣 you know absolutely nothing.
How does that make me unhappy? You saying the only way a man can be happy is by surrendering everything to a woman, especially his own life? You’re insane. - +1 y
“Because if you question what’s in it for me all the time, how can you appreciate the rainy day and the silver living in the clouds, or the way splashing through puddles reminds you of your childhood?…”
Means nothing if you’re dead 🤷🏻♂️ - +1 y
@SolitarySolace I don't necessarily think women would do this too. It's not justified by data. You see lots of videos of disasters and it's men rescuing women and very rarely the other way around.
I'll concede to the accusation of insanity but my breed of it makes me happier than your type if you'll forgive my retaliation here. It's not just surrendering to women by the way.
I would do the same for a man in a burning building who can't find his way out as I would woman, or child, it's just about trying to do a good deed even for people who will betray us and never appreciate what we did at the end. This makes me happy and so I don't have to base my happiness on how others treat me as much as you do. - +1 y
Being selfless isn’t always a good thing. I used to think it was. Someday you’ll come to that realization too
- +1 y
@SolitarySolace I'll likely die before I do but cheers! 🤝🙏 I hope we can discuss this more in the future.

+1 yThe last man I had feelings for was 44 year old and I think we were pretty compatible. We broke up a bit over a week ago because of reasons unrelated to his age. And he was the only man apart from my ex, who I really had feelings for.
I don’t think anybody gets enraged by age differences.

+1 yWe get conditioned to accept such awfuleness. We do need to re-awaken our senses. Quite a few of us have been outspoken about the wars over time. Our voices are like clanging gongs to those in charge.
10 Reply 546 opinions shared on Other topic. Society in general doesn't care if millions of men get sent off to war and die because society doesn't care about men.

00 ReplyYes! I get that frequently. Usually younger women just don’t get it and older women are jealous.
