these artificially flavoured jelly cups that were like single shots. They used to come in this massive plastic jar, maybe 50/80 per jar and my sister and I used to demolish these. There was never a time we didn’t go grocery shopping with our mom growing up just to get these.

It was dried cuttle fish. My parents used to buy it for me every month but we read a Chinese report that it leads to cancer and my parents never bought it again. I had to buy my own when I became an adult with my own money so waited around 8 years.

i was poor. my father abused my mother because he was gay. so we were left alone. we had to find our own food. luckily we were careful and had a big sister. i remember back then being so hungry, and bologna with a piece of cheese on top was all i wanted. my sister would put it on the stove. we weren't allowed to do that. i can't even imagine how old we were but i was less than 4
