After all, if a man doesn't mind gaining or losing from say their extremely 1 single stock purchase, that they just wanna own for bragging rights, surely it's groovy?

If you had asked this 10years ago I would have said it's not worth it. But the game has changed in recent years. It used to be commissions made it prohibitive for the novice investor to get involved. But since robinhood through it's hat into the ring it's forced most online trading platforms to offer zero commission. Now trading platforms generally make thier money off of order flow.
So yes you can get started very cheaply now. And a lot of platforms will offer bonuses for opening an account. Also a lot of platforms allow you to purchase fractional shares. So you can buy partial shares if you're beginning with a small amount of money.
I would recommend taking a small dip if just for the experience.
Been there done that. I lost funds on an ETF or EFT whatever I always confuse the jargon lol. Not much. I put in on an app a cheap like less than 100 bucks. Sold at a loss. I have no patience or tax agent money for stock sells, interests, whatever dividends or distributions lol
Anyways ill leave stocks behind me hahaha and similars. All gambles hahaha to my mind as a reformed gamvlern
*reformed ex gambler
I used to play Texas hold em. I made money but not enough to justify the time I was putting in (it would've been more lucrative to work at mcdonald's๐คฃ).
As far as investing it took me almost a year to make money and actually hold onto it. I'm not claiming to have it all figured out now. I'm not suggesting you go hog wild. Put most of it in an index fund take the rest and splash around a bit.
The fact that you said you were a gambler makes me wonder if you're chasing the big money. An Index fund will earn you 10-12% annually (not adjusted for inflation). And that's pretty damn good. Is 10-12% not enough to your mind?
Unless it's a very expensive stock or you expect it to increase 20 fold, no. It's a waste of money and commissions.
Yes I updated my question when I realised I was stupidly looking at old EFTs or ETFs and realised oh silly me that's what I thought was a few bucks yet actually buying a share is actually very very expensive. Crikey. Total turn off ๐ ๐ ๐
not the right approach
