Looks like old Futhark. Starting at 12 and going clockwise, we have: A, T, N, I think an E, D, then a character I don't recognize below a B, then probably an R, but the scratching makes it hard to be sure, then either a Z or another T, then an S, a Th, an F, a K, an E, a P, a Z, and then a W beneath that first A, with an NG in the middle.

So assuming that's what it means and where it starts, we have "Atned? brzsthfkepazwng". So, while I don't speak Norse, I think that's not correct.

Those symbols are Viking runes. Hard to decipher but if you keep the necklace, you may encounter the wrath of Thor.

nah. no goddly wrath. but correct on needing it translated. i was going to say it's norse runes but viking works just as well. from the looks of it, it was a gift from probably a husband to wife.
