I don't have a credit card. For me, cash is the only way to settle for things I pay. No risk to overdraw your bank account this way. I only can spend what I actually have in my bank account.

Now, as to your choice of credit card, I would chose the one that charges the least commission to sellers, has the lowest interest rate if you overdraw your account or are unable to pay on time.

I have no idea which one would fulfill those 2 conditions. I would have to check exactly on the terms and conditions but I am sure that there are other credit card companies that are not such rip offs as those you mention.

I have both. I use credit cards instead of cash, but like cash in that I pay off the total balance each month. No fees or interest charges.

I prefer Visa. It's accepted at more places in the world, its customer service is better, as is its security. While traveling overseas a few years ago, my wallet was stolen. Visa declined the thief trying to buy something, MC did not, and I had to fight to get the $3K charges removed from my account.

Canceling a card lowers your credit score, as does not using it for a long time. I want to avoid that.

No, they are credit cards. I don't like debit cards, never had one, never will. If a debit card is stolen, they can clean out your bank account. Can't do that with a credit card.
