Why do cats like backpacks?

whenever I leave my backpack open I found her there! I don't understand why she likes staying in it so much

Your cat likes backpacks probably in a combination of it smelling like you and being a cozy and safe space.


Cats like beds these they can hide in. Maybe get yours one? There are lots of styles to choose from.

She probably gets comfort from the scent of you being on it, and cats typically like enclosed spaces to relax and sleep, which is why she enjoys your backpack so much. Cats like to go in holes.
Backpacks, boxes, the space under a couch or bed, burrows inside dirt, holes in walls or under houses, holes in trees, etc. its a place to hide and feel secure.

Cats like to make anything and everything theirs. Our cat was regularly snoring in the bookshelf, laundry basket or my (warm) laptop. 🐈🐈‍⬛

Its a hideout spot. The cat is hidden and can still look out of the top. Its also soft and warm. It smells like home, as well as something from the outside so they are curious what it is.

Same for cardboard boxes.

they don't typically do. i mean my family had many cats over the years and i can't remember a single one who'd enjoy being in a backpack. i would say cats that do are not that common.
