Driving around I have noticed that when you let someone out of a car park or into traffic they turn their hazzard lights on as a way of thanking you? Only noticed it over the last couple years.

In my area of the US, the most common thing is for the driver to wave their hand at you to acknowledge your courtesy.

Not the hazards, but I and other people sometimes give a a few flashes of the right turn signal and then a few flashes from the left turn signal, in addition to giving them a little wave (just in case they didn't see the wave).

Hazard lights should be used only for actual hazards , they overuse them here , for example when they are stopping in the middle of nowhere.

it's a thing in all European countries I visited... I do the same, as using sound signals can be punished if there wasn't a reason for that

I have rarely seen thst. The more common thing is for the car letting the other car out to flash their headlights, which says "Come on out". I do that, but only if it's safe to let them out.

tas has become the norm in England. Yes, I've noticed a proliferation in the past few years. I don't think it was a big thing when I passed my test many moons ago.

Yes, truckers tend to do this due to the large size of their vehicles thus they have lots of blind spots.

No. But people use hazards when coming up to the end of a traffic jam, especially on the autobahn.

It's more of a safety thing to let other drivers know that you are.

Yes, it is very common and a general way to say "thank you". It is, of course, contextual and needed to be understand in that way.

Yeah that's usually as a "go ahead" the hazard lights is definitely a thanks to the person behind. I guess because there's no other way to thank a person
