Why is the sun yellow and the moon white? Why not the reverse?

The moon, during the daylight, reflects all sunlight equally but the reflected light is not scattered enough. Also, during the day the moon has to compete with sunlight, whose color is also scattered by the atmosphere. Also, it is true that the mixture of red, green, and blue color gives the white color.

The Sun emits light over a whole range of wavelengths (or colors). In fact, it does so in all parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, apart from gamma rays. The peak wavelength in a spectrum also generally determines an object’s apparent colour. So, for example, cooler stars appear red and hotter stars appear blue, with orange, yellow and white stars in between.

For the Sun, the spectrum actually peaks at a wavelength that we would normally describe as green.

To cut things short, the actual color of the Sun is white. So, why does it generally look yellow? This is because the Earth’s atmosphere scatters blue light more efficiently than red light. This slight deficit in blue light means the eye perceives the color of the Sun as yellow.

Moonlight is reflected sunlight. The sun is white light. The star size just means it burns yellow because of all the helium gas. If you’re asking why each is depicted that way, helium burns yellow, so it looks yellow when you see it burning all at once. The moon is gray and when you add light it looks white. That’s why.

The sun is actually white but the rays of light are reflected through all the dust and pollution in the air that blocks the blue parts of the color spectrum and we can only see the yellow, it was something like that, I'm not a scientist but I think I only remembered a part of the reason but all I know is that the sun is white.

the sunlight is bright white but when it filters through our atmosphere it looks yellow to us. the moon reflects bright sunlight which makes it look white to us
