Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yAt home, much nakedness. When out, usually those big fridges in stores that have large front glass doors are great lol. Pop in and take a long time selecting a drink heh, or if possible open one door and reach over for a drink other side... ahh.

1 yCold water on a towel and place it to the back of my neck. Run cold water in the sink and dip my elbows in for a few minutes. AND, as Nathan said below. drink plenty of water.. staying hydrated is the most important thing of the lot!
210 ReplyI also stick my head in the freezer for a while too, just being careful not to let any flies in there lol. I'm interested in knowing what tips you have though @thegreenyogi

Dipping elbows in cold water isn’t something I’ve heard before. How does that help more than just dipping your hands?
@petitedollbabee It cools the body temperature down much faster than the hands
When you try it, you'll feel it the sensation go right through you..

I'll have to give the elbows trick a try one of these days!!
Absolutely @thegreenyogi, and thank you for MHO.

Very welcome!!
@thegreenyogi and @petitedollbabee Just to confirm the reason it is so effective its because:-
it's a pulse point called 'The brachial artery, ' located on the inside of the elbow where the bicep meets the forearm.- 1 y
@TommyMountainFigure Very interesting!! Thank you for explaining that. It makes a lot of sense.
@thegreenyogi You're very welcome.

Depends on the situation and length of time anticipated. I live in Arizona, born here. Working construction for 17+ years, one of the best things to do would be wearing pants, a long sleeves shorts, large brim hat and use cooling towels, not just any towel. Towel goes from the back of the neck and the ends resting on the chest. The long clothing will keep you from getting burned and catch the sweat, with will cool down as air passes through, reduce the amount of sweating that will occur which helps retain water, reducing consumption.
For a instant cool down, cool water, on a towel or pouring, on your wrists, under your armpit, around the neck/behind the ears and forehead are great. These are areas to where the blood flows past the most…. its why people choose these areas when attempting to leave this world…
The upper inner parts of your thighs and behind the knee can also be places to cool down, most guys didn't want to look like they had a bladder from a 5 year old.
Using an umbrella can also be a life saver. Water, water, water, cool is better than cold. Start a scheduled water intake days prior if you can, like 8-10oz every 1-2 hours, goal is to be above your normal intake. They consider half to one oz per pound of your weight as what someone should drink as normal daily basis.
Them are extreme cases.. At home I just stripped down to my bright red man thong and jump in the pool. No pool, fill the tub. Plan a group event to the river or lake.
I’m going end it there, I could be here inferring to scenarios all day, but I’m feeling the river, lake or pool should be everyones first choice! How about you?15 Reply- 1 y
Thank you for a very in depth response to this question.
Well in my case when it's really hot like it is here in Italy I go to the beach in the mornings and stay in the water as much as possible and then of course I stay indoors in the most crucial hours of the day with shutters closed to keep my house cool and walk barefoot all the time and drink plenty of water and eat plenty of superfoods that give me all the vitamins and nutrients I need and finally look at digital devices as little as possible. - 1 y
Indeed. That is very true. Meditation and movement I find have really helped me navigate the intese heatwaves. Reason being why I swim in the sea in the mornings for an hour and that really helps me cope with the heat for the rest of the day and I meditate on a daily basis usually before bed. But your tips are very useful and some of them I didn't know about so thank you.

Yes that is correct. I don't like air conditioning because I feel it doesn't help our body cope in absence of it because electricity isn't infinite and if there is no electricity there's no air conditioning so what happens in that scenario? You have to learn to cope otherwise in my view.

1 yBesides keeping my body well-hydrated, I'd protect my skin with adequate sunblock and "breathable" clothing when I go outdoors.
Quite often, I'd stay indoors where it's shaded, breezy and/or air-conditioned.
Swimming is also a must in my day.
