I would love to go back to the past like start over from 1999 knowing what I know now. I was like 7 then , I think it would be great starting over from then. How about you? tell me what year you'd want to go back to , stay in the present or what year in the future you'd want to go to.

This question appeared at a time in my life when I was finally prepared to answer it.

The past?
My past has been pretty rough, as many people could also claim, but my past, as it has played out, has brought me to where I am today, which isn't exactly describable as being "wine and roses", but my spirit very recently has finally been able to (mostly) soar above Earthly pain and suffering.
If I went back and changed the past, I might not be who, and where, I am today, for better or worse.
Who could know what direction my life may have turned if I were to change one little thing in my past?

The future?
It'll get here when it gets here.
The present to a large degree shapes the future, and the present is all that we have, so I'll be shaping the present to work towards a brighter future.
When it gets here.

The present is what I choose to live in, and work on, improving; thereby possibly changing the remembrance by others of regretful moments from my past into feeling less hurtful for those who were around me in my past, or maybe even letting others see that love was my motivation in many cases, but hurt was the unfortunate result of the actions of my past "me".
Making amends to others in the most heartfelt manner that is possible.

I feel going to the future would be a culture shock and going to the past would be some type of ptsd or just anxiety and stress of having to deal with it again.

I’d go with past, so I can ensure making use of the time a lot better than I actually had done so.

I don’t know what I was thinking when I was younger. That time was magic 🪄 ✨ or something. 😂 One day I’d just “get it.” And I had “all the time in the world.” In the snap of fingers.

But I never comprehended the reality of ‘processes,’ and ‘planning.’ Having figured that out, I would’ve panned and processed a lot better then. I’d also enforce some (self control) disciplinary measures as well because I was a huge procrastinator. Inconsistent, due to the lack of discipline by my parents. Never had at least routines. So I kind of had a “what the fuck?” Moment. All the “oh, so I have to brush my teeth and shower everydayy.” “I have to put money into savings and not waste ittt.”

All I was told was: go to college. 😂

I suppose I'd rather go to the future. My own life is kind of insignificant next to the machinations of society being completely taken over by the rich. I think we are headed towards global fascism and there's not anything we can do about it. Indeed, after it gets here the people in charge have so much power over thought that they will convince ~70% of the population that its not actually fascism or that fascism got a bad reputation because of Hitler but it turns out it's actually pretty okay. Then they'll just kill off the other 30% (because mass graves/prisons for people who resist the brainwashing is ultimately the whole problem with fascism). I'd like to skip to the point in the future where human intellect decided to wake from that particular slumber, but I'm also not convinced we will survive as a species long enough to do so. But reliving my life watching the far right steadily gain more global power without anything I can do to slow it down by even one second would also be a huge disappointment, as it currently is.

My past has made me the person I am. The future would be later in my life, if we apply the rules consistently here. So neither appeals to me.

Now, if I could go to the future as the age I am now, I would be fascinated. It would be like reading history that hasn't unfolded yet, but will. Assuming there is only one possible future and not multiple possible futures, of course. But I wouldn't want to stay there, and it would mess with my head probably. Being a prophet, but unable to convince anyone because they'd think you were delusional...

If you go back in time with your current memories to your 7 year old self. Would your mind degrade as you are now in an underdeveloped child head/brain?
While you could made different decisions that may bring in some revenue or avoid bad decisions you made in the past it would also open new paths completly unknown to you. How would you even socialize with people your same age? You end up alone or as the weird kid.

Furthermore you can shape your life around you but not your personality and possible trauma you took with you from your past lifes memories. It wouldn't really be a fresh start and you yourself would remain the same.

I would have majored in accounting
Been with my boyfriend in college
Went to graduate school where he lived
And probably got married and had kids by now with a successful career in accounting.

It's rough that any child would go through difficulties that would make them, as an adult, wish they could go back and live it differently. I am the mother of two children and I feel protective of all children. That's all. I think understanding is always conducive to moving forward in a positive way.

Yea exactly it just sucked I had to stay in the hospital for weeks sometimes and it made my school work marks go low. Which affected my middle school and high school

So it would seem that you must be a naturally resilient person... But for anyone, to have an education disrupted like that will always have its repercussions and the effort of overcoming the challenges can be daunting. Catch-up is always much more difficult. I lost a semester in HS because of an illness, and just that one semester made it so I couldn't start out in the college I had wanted to attend. But I still had the opportunity to attend. It just took a lot more effort to get there. I hope we will see the day when schools do everything needed to provide a good education for all children and utilizing whatever resources necessary to ensure that happens. So how have you dealt with any issues caused by that experience?

Segregation ended in the 60s. My first best friend in 2nd grade was a guy named Sephon Rockwell. He disappeared after that year, and he contacted me through Facebook in 2012. The second grade was 1969. He asked if I remembered him. I said, of course, but I can't believe you remember me. His dad was in the military, and that was why they moved. We talked and talked. That was a blast.

Yes. Mark, the middle one, is done 11 years in the Marines and is a city cop here, Kevin took Sean off the street about 15 years ago and got him off meth. Kevin is my age and is a doctor over about 40 doctors at an emergency clinic in Sherman, Tx. He was the smartest kid in school. He accomplished this by serving 2 years in the Marines, to which Mark followed. Then, with school, he became a paramedic. That was in 85. Then, I worked for tuition and was a big-time doctor. They had a 4th brother, but he was about 3 when I started hanging with them. He was protected from things by who else Kevin. He did 18 years in the Navy and retired a Commander.
I saw Mark about a year ago and chatted. I asked him about the brothers. He said Kevin and Sean had got in a fight, and Kevin shot at him. Didn't hit him, tho. Some things never change.
