What's the weirdest or most disgusting thing you've ever touched?

Weirdest:

Cows Kidneys. As a special dish we had Irish Steak & Kidney Pie on the menu; I had never seen kidneys before, so was kind of surprised what they looked like. They had to be flushed in Cold Water for a good number of days first, changing the water every couple of days (Cold Water Extracts... So all the piss smells and flavours will be pulled out of the Kidneys and then you can use them for cooking).

While making the pie I was on the phone with a colleague's mother in Ireland (I lived in the Netherlands at that time) and she guided me through the whole process: 1 of the best Pies I have ever made!

Disgusting:

That's a bit difficult... I am not easily disgusted. Disgusting stuff can be cleaned up easily, most of the time, and then you just wash your hands properly (if you had no choice but to use your hands or simply after removing the gloves).

Oh, but I have been disgusted once. When I was in my first year as Chef's apprentice my task also included cleaning the toilets (yeah, cheap labour so you are being exploited). I went to the Ladies toilet, and stormed out gagging.

Now, I am absolutely not disgusted by periods nor period blood. I was the one who had to clean up after my daughter was she started to have her periods, remind her to take her pads with her, etc... and I am a 'True Sailor' (I have sailed on the 'Red Sea' a number of times).

But this... the amount of blood and that it had been in there since... oh...12 hours before... pushed me over my limit. Needless to say, I refused.
