What is the most frustrating product that you own?

My weed whacker bit the dust this week. Never did work properly. The bumper on the wheel spool finally wore down past the nub and launched itself through a rip in the space-time continuum in an impressive trebuchet sort of way. Never to be seen again. And I looked.
Searching for a new one is proving difficult as everything is built half-arsed now and feedback is filled with honest and repelling replies. So duct tape it is until the one I decided on is back in stock local. Should be a week or so.

I got a Ryobi battery powered one. It is the 40volt model/ It is three years old and it still works good. I had a couple of gas powered ones and they were always hard to start.

Thanks for the tip. It seems one of those items that will have something wrong with it. Pick your poison. Either burning out after several uses, or only the factory set spool will work properly and after changing it will bug you forever.. on and on the feedback goes. I doubt the next will last ten+ years.

the spool and winder is different from the other ones I have owned. You don't have to take it apart to reload it. It works every time.

There were some cheap no names on amazon that cracked me up. They were metal ninja star blades... with spares!! lmao I can only imagine the damage that would have caused in a similar situation to what happened to me. 😱

I had a Ryobi electric that needed a cord, but it was durable and dependable. I would definitely buy Ryobi again! Replacing the whip cartridge was fast and easy, and i never had any major issues.

@dustybiker2 @chazmatazz269 I actually have an older Ryobi that I have at my summer house. It is the one that takes the little cartridges. It is the 18 volt model and changing the cartridges is pretty easy and it still works good even though it is probably ten years old.

I was asking about Ryobi at Home Depot. They said the feedback is mixed on all of them. They have noticed the quality control slip on these things in recent years. People that are happy have the older models, as you said.

I was thinking about fabricating a new spool cup from a local shop, maybe out of metal since it has to be bumped. So will get a new one but keep this old one to trial on. Never know. Might get another ten years out of it.

Aren't those fairly reasonable price wise? Gas or electric?

The electric are $49-$69 but feedback is saying they burn out ofter a short time. (Mine lasted over a decade) the battery ones have spool problems $200+ with battery and charging port, didn't check gas they are near $300-$400 and can get by on battery or cord.

Thinking about the EGO POWERLOAD 56-volt.

300-400? I don't remember what I paid for mine (15 years ago) but I was adamant that I didn't want electric for the reasons you said. Anyway, good luck. Hassle sucks.

Yes. I'm in a state everything has shot up since covid excuses. Agreed. I'd love to get gas but I'd rather put that kind of money into my bikes. Thanks.

@OhLongJohnsoning they're okay if you know find your adequate size, know when to use them and don't overdo it, sleep with one on or size down from your natural measurement.

Corsets are the ones that can be pretty bad for you, especially if you do tight lacing. Although corests are by far the most effective and give the best results from what I've read, I don't think I'd try one... The risks are just not worth it.

It just dawned on me, I never answered the question! Hmmm lemme see. Oh yeah.. my phone. Firstly the thing keeps thinking it can fly, just because I drop it a lot! Next whenever I try connected it to the net it gives a blank white screen for SO long that when it opens, I forget what I went online for!
Next I have to reboot it after every time I charge it up or I won't receive text messages. What else.. Thats pretty much it.. bloody thing.. Oh yeah when I DO reboot it, I have to go past the screen that says this phone is corrupt, please press start again to continue!
