What are your opinions on the word ‘C**t’?

So this word is seen as one of the most offensive words you can use to the older generation (at least in America. The word is used way more frequently and not see as that bad in other countries)

however the younger generation uses the word all the time.

We especially use it in the gay community a lot. In gay slang, the word is used as a compliment. For example if someone is wearing a really cute outfit and they look good, you might say “You’re serving c**t right now!” Or “you’re looking c**ty!”

I never used to use it, it was just kind of neutral to me. I actually kind of laugh about the way women react to it, like it’s that one “record-needle scratching, whole room falls silent and stares at you in horror” word that you absolutely, positively can’t say around them.

I always found that a little ridiculous, like I could directly call them a bitch and they’d only be a little mad, but if I just SAID the word cunt, about anyone, or just neutrally, they’d be so offended they’d stop talking to me. It’s weird to see a word have that kind of stopping power when it’s never been a designated slur. N-words, F-words, I get it, there’s ugly history behind it. But when did we decide that the “C-bomb” was the Rubicon of cursing that you just can’t come back from?

I’ve tried to get explanations but I have yet to get a good one. They kind of fumble with it themselves and just start stammering like “it’s just…. just…you CANNOT say that word, it’s the worst.” Okayyyyyyy…. but you can’t tell me WHY?

So, knowing that and being a generally courteous person, I try not to go throwing it around in public, so as not to ruffle any female feathers.

BUT…. the last ten years or so, I’ve really gotten into it, myself, lmao. I don’t really know why. Nobody was really using it around me. I think in my mind I just hear a British Cockney accent going “Oi! Faackin’ CAAHNT!”, lmfao, and I’m just so charmed by it. And seeing that Brits and Aussies seem to be fine using it makes me feel like I have a leg to stand on if someone gets mad. I can act like they’re the ones who are uncultured and have just never seen the world😂😂😂

But yeah, I find myself using it A LOT to myself. Like “Fuckin’ CUNT” is my go-to verbal expression of frustration nowadays. I just try to be a little careful about saying it. I had the craziest debit card drop of all time at the self-checkout at a supermarket. I fumbled it, and it fell and slid PERFECTLY into some crevice of the machine, and I instinctively went “Fuckin’ CUNT!!!”, but realized an older lady was at the register next to me, and I was quickly like “I’m so sorry, ma’am, excuse my language” I think you’re a Rhody guy if I remember right, so maybe you’re close/familiar enough to Boston to understand when I tell you she was some trash bag from Quincy, lmfao, so I don’t think she cared, she was just trying to get back to her studio apartment where all her booze and OC’s are😂 (Got the card back for those at home hanging onto the enthralling story lmfao)

So…. yeah, I’m into cunt nowadays. My lady seems ok with it, she’s more put off by “moist”, a non-curse word🙄 But she watches all those Real Housewife shows, and I definitely remember years back one of the edgier Houswives was wearing a nameplate necklace that said “Cunty”, and the other women were doing the pearl-clutching and nearly fainting thing over it🙄😂

As for the word, cunt. I read a book about 15 years ago called, "Cunt". I agree with all but the last chapter or two. I don't see what's so bad about it! If your cursing, it gets al your aggressions out1! It's got that hard C at the start, the U in the middle to get a kind of screaming sound out, "AAAAAAA!!", so, THAT blows off a lot of steam and then you've got that hard NT sound to finish it and give it a definite ending.
There was a weather guy here back in the `90's that liked to call this area, "KD Country" because KD are the first two letters of his station and his broadcasts reach all over this area. One day, he was giving the weather and said, on live t. v., "KD Cunty". He didn't catch it right off until the camera crew started laughing. He started laughing but never said anything about it. Just ignored it like it never happened.

Anyway, of all the words used to describe that part of the body, cunt is the only one that doesn't have another meaning. Although, I have to wonder about, "twat". I don't think that has another meaning, either. I mean, like it says in, "Cunt", vagina is actually another word for, scabbard, which is the name of an object specifically designed to hold a knife or sword! Get the reference? Is your cunt specifically made to hold his sword (or Cub Scout pocket knife)? Feminazi's are so proud of their vaginas but have no idea what the word actually means. If I was a girl, I'd much rather call it a cunt! It's short, very sweet (and tasty) and isn't at all confusing! Dig! You've got girl named, Gina (pronounced, JEAN-ah). Then you add a VA to it. Now it's pronounced, "vah-JY-nah"? Then you tack on an AL to the end and, suddenly, it becomes, "VAA-je-nal"? If it's supposed to be "vah-JY-nah", shouldn't it become, "vah-JY-nal"? Nobody changes "Anus" to, "ANN-al"! As far as I'm concerned, it should be called, a "vah-JEAN-ah".
As kids, we used to switch the word, "can't" with the word, "cunt" just to secretly be able to say it out loud without getting into trouble for it. "I cunt! I just cunt do it!! I really cunt!! And you cunt make me!!"
My ex-fiance & I used to call her twat a cunt! Although, with her Indian accent, it was more like, "cuunt". I don't recall her EVER using the word, "vagina". At least not to describe her own!

One of our welsh words for jellyfish (cont y môr) translate into "cunt of the sea" and in some northern towns cunt is a well known greeting.

But generally speaking it's considered one of the worst swear words and so best reserved for when you really need it less it loses effect.

It depends on the context. In the examples you mentioned, it's used more like playful banter. It would be different though, if someone said something like "you stupid c***t" or "that cunt" to refer to a girl. In this case it would be offensive and degrading.

When I was a kid, it was on the same key as the @ symbol on a typewriter, I believe. Now, you never see it and it's a "special character".

The word Cunt does not have the same weight in the UK as it has in the US.

I call myself a Cunt; friends call each other Cunts; men call each other Cunts; females call each other Cunts; men and females call each other Cunts.

Obviously here in the US it's use is INCREDIBLY polarizing. However, in places like the UK & NZ the word is used much more often and without the same derogatory levels as the US.

I dont like that word nor the B word. One of my exes referred to a lot of women as the C word for literally no reason at all. He never called me that but it quickly became obvious that he really hated women smh. And my first boyfriend called me the B word whenever he got mad at me. I lose respect for those using those words towards men and women

I didn't know about using the C word in the gay community.

To me the C word is one of the most vulgar in the language, not unlike the F bomb, but with negative connotations almost always directed towards women.

fwiw, I use the F bomb pretty often to express surprise and other things. English is a high context language. Intonation changes meaning. I don't remember the last time the C word passed my lips. It's so harsh.

Here in the UK it has a 102 uses, it can fit in well with sarcasm, however context is often key and timing. You can be a jammy cunt, a fucking cunt, or a combination, ‘oh my god you jammy fucking cunt’ often heard between two friends when one does something worthy of it. It’s also a card game.
