I am not sure if I am using this word correctly. When I say ambivalent, I mean that they kind of evoke contradictory thoughts within you about them to them point of almost being uncertain what to make of them as a person.

Yes, some people like to hide behind a "screen" - and it takes time to find their real personality.

I've learned to wait before making a verdict on people I meet, because sometimes the real person takes a while to show themselves - maybe it's a social media thing - people project their public persona, but reality is kept hidden until you're in their close orbit.

With me, you'll always get a second chance to make a first impression - some of my best friends were once strangers, after all.

Yeah. I'd say this is most women actually. They give contradictory statements. Sometimes saying that absolute opposite of what they mean (which you learn later 😆).

I take what people say at face value. If a person wants to play a game they can go play Monopoly I'm not a game.

What kind of thoughts do you mean?
