I would rather fight a Russian given they are the invaders and their rationale for invading is completely unjust.

With that said I do not believe the Russian military is “evil”. They are just following orders. If they desert they not only take a huge personal risk but the Russian government could persecute their own family for their decision.

Also many of the Russian fighters are conscripted. Others joined the military thinking Putin would never do something this insane and evil. I don’t blame them for what they are being forced to do.

Anyway the casualty numbers are beyond insane for both sides right now. There are estimated that 500k+ Russian soldiers are dead or wounded. I really would like to know how many are dead or crippled from those stats but we might never know.

This war needs to end but Putin won’t quit unless he feels that “he has won something”. I also have much more confidence that one particular presidential candidate can end that war vs the other.
