This is not well phrased and not what Morning Brew asked. Several answers could be correct depending on interpretation. Morning Brew asked "what is the minimum number of ducks," which assuming basics like a flat plane in three dimensionsanda direction for front and back, gives one correct answer where yours does not.

6 ducks satisfies the condition. If there are multiple rows of ducks behind and in front of the middle row than it is not exactly true there are two ducks behind and in front.

So there can be only 6 ducks.
