In most parts of the world everyone has an accent, the only difference is that there are some areas that are different for everyone

What's really interesting is these accents were often laid down thousands of years ago and have largely stayed in the areas people first settled. There are parts of the UK where the accent is better understood across the sea than by other Englanders.

I come from Northern Ireland. I can understand Scottish people no problem and vice versa but struggle to be understood by people in southern Ireland and England

I think it's to do with the ulster plantations in the 1600s, Ulster being thd most rebelious province sothe population of the north was basically replaced with Scottish Protestants, then of course you had for a long time in the 1900s to 1970s ulster farm labourers travelling to Scotland to work thd harvest.

I was raised in Boston. My mom sounded like a Kennedy. My dad was from Pittsburgh. I live in hillbilly country. I am pretty much unaccented. Everybody thinks I from Boston, Georgia or the Midwest.

My uncle grew up in Brooklyn and then joined the army and was stationed in England and stayed there. I swear to you between the two accents the man sounds like he's fucking retarded.
