Meaning if I text you in the morning saying hi good morning just checking on you. I don’t hear from you all day. Sudden I text you later on that day like 8 o’clock or after work Hey just getting off checking in.

Trending & News To put it simply, many people think just because someone isn't texting you back after your first text, you shouldn't text them again, because it makes you look "desperate for attention". Now there is some truth to this, so the bigger picture is important.
Like say, if they haven't texted you back and they've seen your text and are still posting stories and posts online, take that as a sign to move on and don't bother with them any more since they don't care about you either. But if they've been online all day, there's no activity from them and your messages aren't seen by them yet either, then they may genuinely be busy. Again, leave them alone and let them text you back in their own time. That's the taboo
I truly understand what you’re saying and it makes total sense. I think the next question or step on that is when is it too long to consider it to be ghosting?
@Justneedtokno well, this is one sorta ties into the first point I mentioned where I said if they're online, see your text and don't text back, but they're still actively doing everything else, from posting stories, pics, reels etc. That's basically what ghosting is; when someone leaves you on read, especially when you asked them a question.
But again, sometimes, the other person could just be busy and can't reply right away or they need time to come up with a good response. Give them a few minutes or maybe an hour for them to respond. If you see them doing something else, then they clearly ghosted you and don't want to talk. In cases like this, you could either just close the chat and move on, or if you guys are close friends and have been talking for a while and this is a first from them, leave them a short message and just exit the chat. If they reply with an apology and answer you, then they really were busy. If they don't, just forget them
Double texting is actually a writing style, I think. It's more forceful/meaningful when you double, etc, text.
This is perfect. I think mine is more meaningful.
Yes, you express yourself really well. 👍
Thanks for the mho.
If he didn't reply all day it is most likely he doesn't want to text you. Unless he is like me and barely has his phone, but with most people he is probably just ignoring you so double texting comes across as desperate.
He doesn't want to talk to you. He seen your text he doesn't like you and he doesn't care. Stop embarrassing yourself
Exactly! If someone want u, they will definitely make a move.
Have self respect and love yourself
@myloveforuisinfinte Do you make a move on everyone you want?
Not on everyone. The one u are interested in. A relationship work coz of both the partner's effort

No big deal. I also double text sometimes
I may be alone in this but i when i read things like this ( which as i live and breath tends to occur with increasing frequency ) I can’t help but feel like if there is actually a social or acceptable etiquette around such a completely arbitrary and trivial nuance then I honestly fear for humanity.
Why , oh why in this digital age with all that’s possible and probable in the configurations of smart devices and mobile technology would it possibly matter how many texts were sent or received in any given time period if the purpose of said texts were honest communication from an actual person ? Have people lost their minds in applying an additional set of rules to how we communicate on top of it all?
lol sorry.. rant … but in my humble logical opinion I couldn’t care less for any etiquette or taboo , *** double texting I will initiate and respond when I see fit and on my own schedule
It depends on the relationship. In general, if a woman other than my partner does that to me, it feels like she's insecure and forces me to have to respond in a certain time frame when I clearly don't want to. It feels manipulative.
So unless and until we are in a committed relationship, it's a turn off.
On the other hand, if it's a woman with whom I have a deep romantic relationship, I might appreciate that she misses me and wants to be sure I'm okay.
So it all depends on the relationship.
This is something that was made up by people who play games and aren't really interested in the other person. if you actually have a good relationship then texting should be like just casual conversation there shouldn't be these special rules that you have to follow.
I don't think about double texting at all, I tend to appreciate actually writing thoughts in texts to your SO with some detail and using multiple messages is often necessary and if I can I will respond even if it's to say i can't really talk now.
I rarely do the total all day ghost things and I used to work in an outside electronic free facility for 6 years.
I have never operated as if it matters so it's hard for me to imagine that being significant in a relationship. It feels like it would have to be a very shallow relationship to be honest
Yeah, I very much feel the same way but then it’s like when you’re with that person they make you feel special like there’s some men that aren’t very talkative but when you get around them they light up I don’t know. Maybe it’s all show.
Do you add pictures to your comments? Maybe it’s why the numbers are pop
I know exactly what you mean. It is really beautiful when you can find a relationship like that. A genuine one where you don't have to worry about the little things or putting on a show for them, but you can just be yourself. And they can be themselves.
Looks like it's not just happening to me, so it must be after the recent update on Gag
We live in an age where using punctuation is an "ick," being nice is "pick me," and "pretty" refers to how expensive and #CurrentThing your make-up and fashion is.
Stop listening to other women about what men like/want/care about.

No, you’re absolutely right. A lot of things are backwards just being happy for somebody. Success got turned around real quickly into being a negative word happy for you. Turned into jealousy, which is wild. I hate that.
Me being a woman I’m not gonna know what a man thinks which is the whole purpose of this site in the beginning. Now it’s all wild.
Sometimes it can get annoying or just look needy.
I can understand that this is why I try my best not to even try because I think they don’t give a shit so why should I?
I get that... I think for me I just started realizing that it went deeper than not caring; it was active disrespect. Disrespect in that I realized these people were just blowing me off.
Like, I would just have people not respond to messages and stuff. I would ask extremely pertinent, normal questions that people should just answer, and I would just get no response. And then these are the same people who be shocked I wasn't down to chill.
Yeah, thank you but how long is too long I mean, I’m not really good guessing what’s going on but I don’t hear back from you like a day or two then I think something fucked up
There's nothing wrong with double texting. Sometimes I will leave multiple paragraphs and then wait a few days for a friend to answer. It's not that deep, they're not obligated to answer right away and I expect them to answer when they feel like it unless it is urgent.
Some people don't text, we actually talk to each other. Myself, my husband and my girlfriend all have messaging disabled on our phones.
I would think they don't give a shit after the first text, therefore why would I bother double texting?
I don't get it either, if you want to text just text.
It's cool if women do it. It shows care and thoughtfulness. But if a dude does it... fuck man... shouldn't you be doing something!
I don't see a taboo in the first place, who is saying it's taboo?
Update: overthinking is absolutely not gender-based, it's personality-based, no one even really agrees on what is overthinking anyway
"Overthink" being g the key word here.
No. When a woman really wants a guy she pulls out all the stops. If a guy has ever been lucky enough to have this happen he KNOWS this.
If she's "thinking" about it. He's not Mr. Right. He's just Mr. Right now until something better comes along. There's no sense giving all to a woman who not willing to give all to you.
Why care what others think about it?
It’s something that I never understood and wanted an input
I agree with your second update
It’s annoying.
I can understand that this is why I try my best not to even try because I think they don’t give a shit so why should I?
anxiously desperate
See and this is why women tap out and don’t want to be a part of all of this
There's nothing wrong with that at all.
It comes off desperate
Whats double texting? Spam texting?
How you mean?
Meaning if I text you in the morning saying hi good morning just checking on you. I don’t hear from you all day. Sudden I text you later on that day like 8 o’clock or after work Hey just getting off checking in.
That’s a double text
Maybe, but I know it makes me feel like an idiot either way
I stated it in an update
Just need to know. It’s because I like to ask questions and I like the anonymity.
