Is "double texting" really a thing? And a bad thing yet?

Why is double texting considered a bad thing? I've been seeing this guy for a year and sometimes I double text. Doing it never bothered me until someone said "if he doesn't answer he doesn't like you" "Guys don't like double texting. It's needy and annoying." .. then I'm like whoa wait is that true and started overthinking everything. Dating is hard enough without having to navigate all these "rules"

So fellas, do you see double texting as a turn off? Needy or annoying?

Eh, sometimes people make a bigger deal out of double texting than it really is. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I mean, if a guy is consistently ignoring all your texts and you don't get any response for like days, then yeah maybe take the hint. But it's not that serious to double text every now and then.

Life gets busy, people get distracted - there's lots of reasons your dude might not instantly reply besides not being interested. As long as you're not constantly double/triple texting without them engaging back, one extra message won't scare anyone away who actually likes you.

Personally, I wouldn't find it needy unless it was constant every time we talked. A quick follow up text isn't a big deal, especially if it's just to continue a conversation. Guys aren't some fragile creatures who freak out over that.

Like you said, dating is complicated enough already without treating every little thing like some strict protocol. As long as you and this dude have been solid for a year, I wouldn't sweat what random people say on the internet. Do what feels right between you two.

No but I have realized women see it as desperate which It just seems toxic within itself but a guy normally doesn't care and don't pay attention to small things like this cause normally it's just not true.

Texting is cancer. It is bad on every level.

I don't like double texting. It makes the conversation seem unnatural. It has to flow back and forth and each side has to hold their own.
