Sometimes? Obviously the nature/perspective of what they’re saying might give it away. I think there are certain words and phrases that I also maybe would associate with Black folks, I’m spacing on what they’d be in the moment, but there are some. Part of growing up, I was in a mostly Black neighborhood, and in college I had a bunch of friends who were football players and a lot of them were Black dudes, and from the South, so I have some experience in that kind of circle too.

I don’t really think of people as just broadly “Black”, like I don’t think of people as broadly “White.” I likely have more in common with a Black dude from a northern city like NYC than I do with a White guy from backwoods Georgia…. but I also probably have more in common with a White guy from NYC than I would a Black dude from backwoods Georgia. Depends, I guess, but I think it’s more regional than racial. I think I’m just not really thinking about it. My only reason to care is to provide context or perspective to what they’re saying, if it’s something that relates to race, identity, etc.

Otherwise, all of y’all are just binary code to me on the internet😜
