What is a skill you have that surprised people?

What are your skills that surprised people?

Was it something work related? Was it knowledge based? Or just a random talent of your's.

I can honestly say I was born with the gift of gab. I've always been outgoing and loved socializing. I can honestly say I've always been a people person.

I'm actually a very good cook. Cooking was definitely taught to my brother and I from a very young age. Growing up with an Italian background it was almost like religion lol.

I burn everything and say its cajun. — I burn everything and say it's cajun.

For people that don't know what I do for a living yet, they are usually always surprised at how long I've been a competitive dancer for. I've won several competitions throughout the years and I've been doing it since I was 9.

What are a couple of your skills that you have that surprise most people?

Oh there's another skill but it's behind the bedroom door lol. A skill is a skill tho. 😂

I was like wait did I answer this already. I couldn't say these two better myself haha. This is me as well to a tee. Except I have a sister too.

I am the guy that has to try not to talk to strangers, and I'm always cooking. I also have an Italian heritage (I'm American) where my grandparents were from Italy on both sides.

I still crack up at all the minor ingredient disputes of what goes in what dish and how everyone would lose their minds over it but in a loving way. Especially when both grandparents were all together being they were from different parts of Italy.

Outside of this, I have developed a new skill for fun which is working on cars which is not what I do for work. I've always respected mechanics. One of my grandfather's taught me some stuff when I was a kid that saved my life regarding driving. He had to out of financial reasons learn how to fix his own cars and it never rubbed off on me. When he passed, I forced myself to learn stuff, to feel closer to him and remember him.

One of the ways I did this was by having one newer car and one old beater which my friends don't understand why I do this for my grandpa. He never could afford a new car and he never felt bad or poor despite being so. I knew how to do basic stuff like oil changes, filters l, wipers etc. So on the beater, I taught myself brakes, rotors, replaced sensors, a new valve cover, which was not super easy on this car, but I did it. Also, spark plugs, and ignition coils, which these two more people should do, especially with inline 4 cylinders. It's like screwing in a light bulb but makes you feel cool you did it lol.

As a fun story to share, I will say working on this car in my driveway has attracted more women then I would have thought ha. I'm single so some of my neighbors seem to like a guy getting grease on him.

As a joke one neighbor said you look a little sweaty today while I was working on the brakes, so I got up and said, you're right and took my shirt off like if it were a movie, and I poured my water on myself and I'm thinking this is funny. How do you not laugh at that. Well, as I'm laughing, she def got hot and bothered a little. Lol.

I didn't expect the reaction based on my silliness, but hey, it's nice to be gawked at every so often as a guy at 45 who's still keeping it together as best as he can haha.

Apparently, just being ‘mature’ for my age is the skill that gets everyone impressed. I hear it all the time, I don’t exactly know what it is though it is much appreciated.

I have been playing piano since I was 8. My friends, of course, know all about it, but it usually surprises others. I also did a public-speaking course, so I am quite good at public speaking, even though I don't truly enjoy it.

I’m pretty coordinated and have good aim so I’ve always been a good bowler and good at throwing baseballs with accuracy. I can also shoot a basketball pretty well

People are shocked at how good I am at card tricks. When I was ten, my dad went to Vegas for a convention and bought a book showing how to do magic with a normal deck of cards and I got really good at it.

hmmm i suppose poetry writing. i did a few of them in high school and after. people usually seem impressed with them. yeah mainly my writing skills just about. Not as talented with speaking as i am with the written word it seems.

Probably how fast i am. People always seem surprised at just how fast i actually am.

Like i said. I ran track in hs along with basketball.

But i chose basketball even though I was way better at 100, 200 4x100, and 4x200.

I actually had way more offersfor track, than i did basketball.

But i didn't like track that much. I loved basketball.

I'm a good woodworker. Was making a decorative bowl for someone but I ended up throwing it into my stove, so now I'm working on making a dreidel set for my girl. Pinewood, the symbols carved into it and will be painted when I'm done

I started up again in my mid-50s and had a good band for several years until covid mandates shut everything down in 2020 when I was 66.
