Do you keep your friend circles small?

What inspired this is the saying I heard that goes like "women keep other women single" I know there's an endless amount of reasons someone can stay single but is there any level of truth to this saying?

I think this is a saying that was created by seeing women's friends ruin opportunities for their female friends when either a man approaches or when women ask other women for advice and they are told the man isn't enough or they point out flaws, I think it was created by dudes, I would assume by men that tried to approach women and her friends decided to get involved, personally I've always keep my circles small and I was cautious on who enters those circles.

I keep my circle small. I love to socialize, but my true friends are few and deeply valued.

What you mentioned “women keep other women single”, I can see how friends can often provide a better perspective on a relationship, however I’ve always been a firm believer that relationship issues should stay within the two people involved.

Another possibility might also be that if someone’s single and they have friends, they have people to talk to and things to do, they are less likely to prioritize looking for a partner because they might be fulfilled by their friendships and social connections.

Lol I think there's some truth in that. I think more specifically though, jealous and lazy women keep each other single. I could explain what I mean by that, but it's pretty self-explanatory.

I have "tiers" of friendship. Met you a few times playing football and you seemed like a decent person? Okay, I'm probably gonna get your contact and text you from a burner number. I talk and volunteer with you every week at church? We have coffee sometimes and you know some general things about my life. You bailed my brother out of a speeding ticket and taught me how to use my money well? Yeah lol you got another brother now

When young I was more the merrier. I'd bring new friends into the circle. It grew from us 4 to about 11 or 12.

5 since 2011. All were best friends and there is one left from that group that was a best friend but he screwed that up in 2004 when he got on meth and fucked me out of 5 g's (thousand$) while fixing my wrecked truck. He's still kicking, and I forgave him. I've heard he is ashamed.

Yeah, it is. They went ages 46, 48, 51, 54, 59. One heart attack 48, lung cancer 51, 2 wrecks and one bike crash 59. His brother died in a bike crash on morning of Halloween in 2005. Both Harleys even tho they were not biker types really. Billy was driving drunk coming from Texas A&M visiting his daughter. Craig crashed in 2019 from a seizure by a brain tumor.

I do now. I used to be someone who had tons of different -and huge- friend circles, but now I really have one with less than 10 people. Over the past 2 years, I've began to find it unfulfilling to have a huge friend group with more fickle people and not have a true friend group.

I like to socialize and talk to lots of people, but my true friends are few and true. The true friends I have are the ones that I have deep connections with, would trust them with anything, and would give them anything if they ever needed it. But yes, I do keep my friend circle small.

I used to have a large circle of friends. It seems the older I get the smaller my circle of friends get.
