Do you gossip (description below)?

Hey Guys and Gals,

Wanted to know if you tend to gossip about other people, which includes:

— Asking a pile of questions about a person.

— Spreading (or starting) rumors.

— Listening in on (or otherwise encouraging) gossip.

And if you’re the type (like me) to shut it down, let us know why you feel that’s necessary….

Yeah I love to be up on all the local gossip. It’s very interesting and entertaining.

Yeah I love to share/start rumors about people regardless of whether I do/don’t like them.

Nah gossip has no place in my life. Shut it down.

I think most people do to an extent. I don't spread rumors per se, but I do sometimes speak my opinions of others when I'm with people that know them and they're the topic of interest. I'm always honest with my opinions and despite what people say about it not being good to talk behind people's back, I think most people do it naturally throughout their lives. Sometimes it's negative stuff, sometimes it's positive.

It’s funny you say it this way. You know? I hate all sorts of gossip, but once I was shit down for saying something COMPLIMENTARY about a person. I had never thought of saying something NICE as being gossip!

Well I mean talking about a person in general. I don't usually bring it up unless I've dealt with some drama and wanna rant.

Most of the "gossip" usually goes like

Person: How are you? The family good these days?

Me: Yeah everything's good. Family's doing well. How about you?

Person: My family's also doing well. How's your brother doing these days? Haven't heard about what he's been up to for a while.

Me: Brother's doing well. He's married now. I don't talk to him much as we're not that close so I don't know too much.

Person: Oh I always thought you and your brother were tight!

Me: Nah, me and him have polar opposite personalities. It's hard to see eye to eye with him. I do love him and wish him the best though.

Person: Oh why's that?

Me: I guess for reason a, b, and c, etc.

See in that instance I’d think the other person was just being nosey! 😂

Eh... I'm an open book. I don't really hide much, even when it comes to opinions of others when asked, unless I'm specifically asked not to say anything or I know it's sensitive information that I wouldn't want shared about myself. I let people be nosey and just respond with the information I think I can mention.

I like talking about things and being nosy, but I also don't really tolerate people talking badly about each other unless I know firsthand that they've earned their bad reputation. Also even if it's not "bad," there are things I just have no interest in discussing because I know they wouldn't want me to know about it.

I go to twitter and lipstick alley to read the gossip. This weeks all about the epstein island list, how it features trump but not diddy or jayz,

and the supposed ways that gene Hackman and michelle tratchenberg died… may they rest in peace

Well before I participate in gossip I always try to remind myself what if the shoe was on the other foot? Would I like it? That usually keeps me from continuing gossip.

1 Yes some people really interest me and if they're not there, well what can you do.
2 No, and Ill try to defend the person in question to try and keep the peace
3 Yes I listen in on anything, I'm usually a quiet person, working while other colleagues talk. You hear some crazy stories.

We live in a world of Gossip, but nobody reading this does! LOL I try not spread rumors or B. S. Just talk about current events and known facts.

Agreed! It's actually hard not to fall into a gossip trap. Funny, I've fallen into a couple of gossip traps that involved me -- folks asking about me to get info to share with others who I honestly gave up trying to speak with.
